DreamCloud is always trying to stay ahead of the game, and they have subtly changed the design of the mattress a few times – I have previously tested out a few other versions of the DreamCloud Premier mattress and have personally seen these improvements. DreamCloud Premier Mattress Firmness And Feel

When shopping for a new mattress, it’s critical to consider a bed’s firmness and feel. These factors have a big impact on whether a mattress will feel comfortable for different types of sleepers.

How Firm Is The DreamCloud Premier?

The DreamCloud Premier feels like a 6.5/10, about medium-firm. The top layers are very soft, and it is easy to press my hand in, but I then hit the more supportive layers beneath, and my hand stops. The mix of a plush comfort layer with supportive coils gives the DreamCloud Premier an average firmness.

Sleeping On The DreamCloud Premier Mattress

The DreamCloud Premier feels best lying on my back; I sink into the top layer, but I still feel supported under my lumbar area and across the rest of my body. I also feel the foam layers take the shape of my body, so I am very comfortable.

DreamCloud Premier - Back Sleeping

Side sleeping on the DreamCloud Premier, I am getting some decent pressure relief. I will note that I weigh 250 lbs, so I am feeling a bit of firmness from the support layers, but lighter people should feel even better pressure relief.

However, the DreamCloud Premier does feel too soft when I am stomach sleeping. I can feel my hips bowing into the mattress somewhat, and I am experiencing some lower back strain.

What Does The DreamCloud Premier Feel Like?

Lying on the DreamCloud Premier, it has a plush feel, and I do sink in a fair bit; there is some memory foam in the top layers, and it is a little difficult to move around. At the same time, the mattress has a noticeable amount of bounce due to the coils and a more responsive quilted top layer. The Euro Top also gives the top of the mattress a pillow top look and feel.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs

Back sleeping, average-weight people will really enjoy sleeping on the DreamCloud Premier mattress. They should feel good overall support, and the top layer should conform to body curves. The DreamCloud Premier mattress is actually one of the best mattresses for back sleepers.

Moving to the side, the DreamCloud Premier provides excellent pressure relief to the shoulders and hips of average weight sleepers. Again, the mattress is softer-than-average, so it is very comfortable for side sleeping.

Average weight, stomach sleepers may need a bit more support under the hips.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs

For heavyweight stomach sleepers, the DreamCloud Premier mattress is going to be especially uncomfortable because their midsection will sink in too far, throwing off their spinal alignment. However, though it may be less comfortable for heavyweight stomach sleepers, the DreamCloud is a good option for heavyweight back and side sleepers because of its medium firmness.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lbs

Lightweight people who sleep in any position should enjoy the DreamCloud Premier mattress. While back sleeping, lightweight sleepers should feel supported while feeling the comfort of the top foam layers. Lightweight side sleepers won’t press so far into the mattress and shouldn’t feel any real pressure on their shoulders and hips. Stomach sleepers should feel well supported across their entire body, and they shouldn’t feel their hips or center mass dipping into the mattress.

DreamCloud Premier Mattress Construction

Now that you know what it feels like to lie on top of the DreamCloud Premier, let’s look at the construction and review how these elements might affect performance.

Cover

The cover is soft, breathable, and made of a cashmere blend.

Comfort Layers

The DreamCloud Premier mattress features multiple comfort layers. First, a Euro Top Cradle Layer and Euro Top Support Layer create a plush Euro Top on top of the mattress. Beneath that, there is a thick layer of memory foam, followed by another layer of support foam.

DreamCloud Premier - Construction

Support Layer

The individually-wrapped coils are high-grade and should be able to support sleepers of many weights but, at the same time, they might not be able to support people over 300lbs. The coils rest on a thin layer of base foam.

Mattress Height

The DreamCloud Premier mattress is 13″ tall.

DreamCloud Premier Mattress Performance

We put the DreamCloud Premier mattress through a range of tests to assess its performance with regards to temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support, and more. Let’s see how it did!

RELATED: DreamCloud Premier Vs Saatva

Sleeping Hot Or Cold

The DreamCloud Premier should not be sleeping particularly hot because the top cover is quite breathable and should allow some air to pass into and escape from the mattress.

Motion Transfer

To test out the motion isolation capabilities of the DreamCloud Premier, I first placed a glass of water in the center of the mattress. I then pressed into the other areas of the mattress, trying to make a disturbance – the water was not disturbed too much. This lets me know that the DreamCloud Premier should do a good job of cutting down on motion transfer and should be a good mattress for couples.

Edge Support

I sit down on the edge of the mattress and it does collapse a fair amount. I press into the pillow top, and the coils also compress, so I don’t feel very secure sitting down. When I lie down near the edge of the DreamCloud Premier, I feel the edge collapsing, and I do feel like I might roll off the mattress. Edge support really isn’t a highlight of the DreamCloud Premier mattress.

DreamCloud Premier - Edge Support

Durability

The mattress contains some durable materials, so this should be a sound long-term investment – the high-density foams and coils should stand up to many years of use.

Off-Gassing

The DreamCloud Premier contains coils so it is going to pop open pretty quickly. Clear away the plastic and give the mattress 24 to 48 hours to fully expand and off-gas.

Noise

We did not notice any real squeaking or creaking while moving around on the DreamCloud Premier mattress; the individually-wrapped coils would be the only material in the mattress that might make noise after years of use, but we are hearing none.

Sex

Couples who are searching for the best mattress for sex typically want to pick something that is bouncy and responsive. The DreamCloud Premier mattress fits as a great mattress for sex.

DreamCloud Premier Mattress Company Policies

A company’s policies are always an important factor in the decision-making process. DreamCloud’s policies are unique within the industry.

Warranty

The DreamCloud Premier comes with the security of a lifetime warranty.

Sleep Trial

The DreamCloud Premier offers a 365-day trial, nearly quadrupling the industry standard. Learn more about the trial on DreamCloud’s website.

Return Policy

If you realize that the DreamCloud Premier is not the best fit, you can return the mattress within the 365-day trial period. Customers who are not 100% satisfied will receive a full refund.

Complaints

Many DreamCloud Premier customers have no complaints. However, because the mattress features five layers of memory foam and coils, the DreamCloud Premier is heavier than average. Customers have the option to request White Glove Service to receive full set up.

How Does The DreamCloud Premier Compare To Other Mattresses?

You’ve probably wondered what the difference is between mattresses within the same brand. So let’s review how the DreamCloud Premier stacks up against other DreamCloud mattresses.

Compare DreamCloud Premier to other mattresses on our mattress comparison page.

DreamCloud Premier Vs DreamCloud Mattress

Both the original DreamCloud and the DreamCloud Premier are hybrid mattresses made with gel memory foam and individually-wrapped coils. Their quilted cashmere-blend covers are breathable and create a soft pillow top feel, making both mattresses a great option for people who sleep hot at night.

The DreamCloud Premier has more comfort layers than the original DreamCloud, and it’s made with premium materials. In addition to making it more durable, this results in better motion isolation. The DreamCloud Premier is softer than the DreamCloud, and it is one of the best mattresses for side sleepers.

Who Should Get The DreamCloud Premier?

  • Those who like a softer mattress
  • Side sleepers
  • Those who want something more luxurious
  • Couples who want a mattress with good motion isolation so they are not awakened by their partner moving during the night

Who Should Get The Original DreamCloud?

  • Those who prefer a firmer mattress
  • Stomach sleepers
  • Shoppers who want a more affordable mattress

DreamCloud Premier vs DreamCloud Premier Rest

The DreamCloud Premier Rest feels slightly softer than the DreamCloud Premier — the Premier Rest is a 6/10 while the Premier is a 6.5/10 on the firmness scale.

The Premier Rest is a better option for side sleepers. It has an extra 2” layer of soft foam, which gives it a cushier feel with a bit more sinkage. This also makes it 16” tall, in comparison to the Premier’s 14” height.

The Premier Rest is a more luxurious mattress and thus has a higher price point. The Premier Rest is $2499.00 for a queen compared to the Premier’s $1832.00 queen price tag.
