Sleeping With Layla Weighted Blanket
The Layla weighted blanket is a fairly standard weighted blanket. I tested the 15lb option, which is about the size of a traditional throw blanket. One thing that makes this blanket stand out is its construction. One side feels soft and minky, while the other feels cool and crisp. I particularly liked having the soft mink-style side on me, with the cotton side facing outward.
I am a typically hot sleeper, and this blanket doesn’t feature much in terms of cooling. The cotton side feels relatively breathable, but there were many times where I felt rather warm under this blanket. If you run hot, that is something to consider.
However, if you’re the type of person that gets cold quickly, this blanket could be a great option. Whether you use it for sleeping or lounging, this blanket will keep you warm.
How much does the Layla Weighted Blanket Weigh?
As mentioned, the Layla weighted blanket does have a variety of weight options, and each weight comes in a different size. The 15lb option measures 48” x 72”, which is roughly the size of an average throw blanket. The 20lb option fits on a queen size bed, and it measures 60” x 80”. At its heaviest, the Layla weighted blanket is 25lb and measures 80” x 87”.
If you’re not sure which weight option is the best for you, the general rule of thumb is to take 10% of your body weight (or divide your weight by 10) and add or subtract a pound or two. For example, if you weigh around 200lbs, then a 20lb weighted blanket would be the best fit for you.
Layla Weighted Blanket Feeling
As we’ve said, this blanket features two different sides to it. The top side contains plush, soft, mink-like fur. The other side is made of 100% cotton, which is naturally breathable.
The Layla weighted blanket was designed with deep touch pressure in mind. No matter what weight and size option you get, this blanket should give you that hugging sensation weighted blankets are known for.

How would the Layla weighted blanket perform if you were to buy one and get it today? Here’s what you can expect.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
In my experience, the Layla weighted blanket felt decently comfortable to use, especially if I was lounging on the couch. This blanket doesn’t offer anything by way of cooling or temperature regulation, though the cotton side has some breathability to it.
As a hot sleeper, I don’t often use thick blankets while I sleep or rest, and I would say I definitely felt warm when using this blanket. There were times when I felt comfortable, but overall, I couldn’t keep this blanket on me for long. If you’re an extremely hot sleeper, or are concerned with overheating, that’s something to consider.

Care Instructions
Want to know how to care for your Layla weighted blanket? Well, the entire blanket is machine washable! For a weighted blanket without a cover, this is highly impressive. Most of the time, blankets without covers can only be spot cleaned.
For the best results, simply wash it in cold water and tumble dry on low. You should avoid bleach and never iron this blanket.
Allergies
The Layla Weighted Blanket is not marketed as hypoallergenic, however, we don’t anticipate this blanket to trigger any allergies.
Layla Weighted Blanket Construction
With their signature hexagonal pattern, Layla products are easily recognizable. Their weighted blanket is no different. As mentioned, this blanket features two sides, a top layer made of soft, minky-like fabric and a bottom layer made of 100% cotton. The cotton side has a thread count of 300, so it’s especially high-quality.
You’ll find large hexagon quilting panels on both sides of this blanket. These panels hold the filling, which is made of glass beads.
The hexagon grid is meant to give the blanket an even weight distribution. But in my experience, because the hexagons are so large, the beads occasionally bunched up within the panels. But overall, the weight distribution is fairly good.

How does the Layla Weighted Blanket Compare To Other Blankets?
There are a lot of weighted blankets out there, so it’s best to compare options. Let’s see how Layla stacks up against the Casper and Gravity weighted blankets.
Layla Weighted Blanket Vs Casper Weighted Blanket
The Layla and Casper weighted blankets don’t have removable covers, but they’re not identical.
In terms of construction, the Casper has a soft cotton cover. The Layla weighted blanket’s cover has two layers. One is made of plush, fur-like fabric and the other is made of cotton. Neither blanket features anything by way of cooling or temperature regulation, but the Casper’s breathable cotton cover might work a little better for hot sleepers.
The panelling on these blankets is also different. Casper features long, rectangular quilted panels that look like a winter jacket, while the Layla features its signature hexagon paneling. In our experience, the Casper is one of the best weighted blankets for weight distribution because of its rectangular panels.
Looking at care instructions, the Layla is completely machine washable, while the Casper is spot clean only. If you’re looking for oversized weighted blankets, however, Layla is the way to go.
Who should get the Layla Weighted Blanket?

Layla Weighted Blanket Vs the Gravity Weighted Blanket
Gravity is one of the most popular weighted blankets out there, so let’s see how the Layla compares.
Gravity has four weight options, ranging from 15 – 25lbs, and a 35lb king size weighted blanket. The Layla has three weight options, which get larger as the weight increases. These bigger sizes can be used by multiple people.
Construction wise, the Gravity has an inner blanket with an outer duvet cover, while the Layla is more of a comforter-style weighted blanket without a removable cover. The Gravity’s outer cover is machine washable, but the inner blanket is hand wash only. The entire Layla blanket can be machine washed.
Both blankets create that deep pressure touch sensation, which is known to help you release serotonin and feel more relaxed. If you’re looking for one of the best weighted blankets for anxiety, both are good options.
Finally, in terms of price, the Layla weighted blanket is the more affordable option.
Who should get the Layla Weighted Blanket?
- People who want a blanket that is easy to wash
- Shoppers on a budget
