Sleeping With the Hush Weighted Blanket
I received the 20 lb queen size blanket to test out. The first thing I noticed about the Hush blanket was how soft the duvet cover was. While you can use the inner blanket by itself, I really loved having this ultra soft cover on the outside.
Because the queen sized blanket takes up so much space, the weight is also being spread across a wider area. I didn’t always feel the weight surrounding me, but because it’s still heavier than your average blanket, I didn’t find myself tossing and turning as much.
I also felt fairly warm under this blanket. As a hot sleeper, that’s a guarantee, but I don’t think overheating was a concern of mine. However, if you’re an especially hot sleeper, look at the Hush Iced 2.0. This is Hush’s cooling weighted blanket, which will be the best bet for anyone concerned with overheating.
How Much does the Hush Blanket Weigh?
The Hush weighted blanket comes in a variety of different sizes, with each providing one or two weight options.
The weight ranges from 12 lb all the way to 35 lb. The smallest size is the teen size, and goes all the way up to a king size. If you’re not certain what is the ideal weight for you, the general rule of thumb is to take 10% of your body weight and then add or subtract a pound or two.
To put this into practice, if you weigh around 190 lb, 10% of that is 19 lb. So opting for a 20 lb weighted blanket will be the best for you. If you are shopping for a blanket to use with another person, you’ll take 10% of your combined weight.
When you add that 10% body weight on top of you, you can experience something called deep pressure touch. This is often described as that hugging sensation and will help you stay calmer and release serotonin.

Hush Weighted Blanket Feeling
The Hush weighted blanket felt very comfortable to use. The removable cover felt very minky and soft. The inner blanket also was fairly comfortable, but my preference was to keep the outer cover on while I used it. The Hush weighted blanket definitely provides that hugging feeling.

I’ve told you a little bit about my experience with the Hush weighted blanket, but how will it perform in a few key categories?
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Generally speaking, the Hush classic weighted blanket will be a good option if you get cold quickly. You should feel comfortably warm under this weighted blanket.
It doesn’t feature anything specific in terms of cooling or temperature regulation. However, if you are looking for a weighted blanket specifically for cooling, look at their Hush Iced 2.0.
Care Instructions
When it comes to caring for your Hush blanket, there are a few things to know.
The entire outer cover is machine washable. Hush recommends that you wash it with cold water and a soft detergent. You’ll then hang it to dry.
Because you can use the inner blanket by itself, if that gets dirty, Hush recommends that you hand wash only.
Allergies/Allergens?
The Hush blanket is not listed as a hypoallergenic blanket, however we don’t expect it to trigger any allergies, due to it being made of synthetic materials.
Hush Weighted Blanket Materials
The Hush weighted blanket comes to you with the duvet cover already attached. This outer cover is made with minky threading, making it very soft and comfortable. The cover has both zippers and ties to attach to the inner blanket, which promotes even weight distribution.
The inner blanket is made with soft microfiber, making it a great option to use by itself. Inside the quilted square panels, there is non-toxic glass sand to give the blanket its weight.
These high-quality materials, combined with extensive research, will help reduce cortisol levels, and help you produce serotonin and melatonin. This blanket should help you get some of the best sleep you can get.

How does Hush Blanket Compare To Other Blankets
When shopping for a weighted blanket, it’s good to have options available. Let’s see how the Hush weighted blanket compares to other weighted blankets on the market.
Hush Weighted Blanket Vs Sleep Number True Temp Weighted blanket
While Sleep Number is a brand that got its start with adjustable mattresses, it has expanded into sleep accessories. The True Temp weighted blanket is designed to be a temperature regulating and cooling weighted blanket.
It has an outer shell made with Sleep Number’s proprietary 37.5 active particle technology. This cover has some moisture-wicking properties which will prevent you from sleeping hot and sweaty. Hush’s outer cover is just made from soft, minky threading.
In terms of options, however, Hush has many to choose from. With four sizes, and seven weight options, a wide variety of people will find a weight option that suits their needs. The Sleep Number weighted blanket only has two weight options.
In terms of price, the Sleep Number blanket is a bit more affordable.
Who should get the Hush Classic Weighted Blanket?
- People looking for a variety of weight options
- People who prefer a soft, fuzzy outer cover
Who should get the Sleep Number True Temp?
- Anyone looking for a weighted blanket with temperature regulation in mind
- More average weight solo sleepers

Hush Weighted Blanket Vs Layla Weighted Blanket
Some other weighted blankets will vary in size as the weight increases. Layla’s weighted blanket has similar sizes and weights, and aims to reduce anxiety as well.
However, there are some construction differences between the Layla weighted blanket and the Hush. To start, Layla’s weighted blanket does not come with an outer cover. Despite this, there are two different sides to Layla’s weighted blanket. It has a cotton side, which should be rather breathable, and a soft polyester side. This will feel similarly to Hush’s minky outer cover.
Both blankets get bigger as the weight increases. However, Hush’s weight options outnumber the Layla’s. A Hush weighted blanket has seven weight options to choose from, while Layla’s only has three.
When it comes to cleaning, the entire Layla blanket is machine-washable, while Hush’s outer cover is only machine washable. In terms of price, the Layla weighted blanket is more affordable, and is backed by a five-year warranty. The Hush blanket has a one-year limited warranty.
