Zoma Boost Hybrid Mattress Overview
Zoma is a brand that designs mattresses with athletes in mind. With the Zoma Start and Zoma Hybrid, the brand already offered some great cooling features and proprietary zoning technology. Now, the Zoma Boost Hybrid offers that same cooling and zoning along with some even more luxurious materials. This is Zoma’s priciest mattress, but it also has the most to offer.
While the Zoma Boost Hybrid is a very nice mattress, it still might not be for everyone. Here is a quick view of who may like the Boost Hybrid and who may not:
Pros | Cons |
Hot sleepers | Stomach sleepers |
Back sleepers | Fans of a slow-moving feel |
Fans of bouncy mattresses | Those who need a cheap mattress |

Zoma Boost Hybrid Firmness and Feel
Let’s start off by looking at the Zoma Boost’s firmness and feel. This will give you a good idea of whether or not the Zoma Boost will work for your preferred sleeping position.
How Firm Is The Zoma Boost Hybrid?
The Zoma Boost Hybrid scored a 6/10 on our firmness scale, which is just slightly softer than the industry average for medium-firm. It boasts multiple layers of pressure-relieving foam that offer some very nice comfort right on top of the mattress.
The Zoma Boost Hybrid is also zoned, so it feels firmer toward the center and softer toward the head and foot of the mattress. This will make it feel firmer or softer depending on your sleeping position.
Sleeping On The Zoma Boost Hybrid
I really enjoyed back sleeping on the Zoma Boost Hybrid. While it is a bit softer than average, its zoning still provides the right amount of lumbar support. The pillow top cushioned my joints, but I never felt like I was out of alignment.
I was also impressed by the pressure relief when I was side sleeping. Even as a bigger guy (270 lb) I didn’t bottom out on the mattress and felt no real pressure build up around my shoulders and hips. However, as I will note below, those who weigh more than me may have a different experience.
When I moved to my stomach, the Zoma Boost was too soft for my taste. Even with the zoning in the center, I did not get quite enough support under my hips. I could feel my center mass dipping down into the mattress, and this was putting some light strain on my lower back.
What Does The Zoma Boost Hybrid Feel Like?
The Zoma Boost Hybrid has a bouncy, responsive feel that makes it easy to move around and change positions. While it features soft foam on top, I never felt like I was stuck in the mattress. Those top layers offered the comfort of a pillow-top mattress, but didn’t hinder my mobility.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Average weight back sleepers should love the Zoma Boost Hybrid. It offers an excellent balance of comfort and support plus zoning to provide additional lumbar support. All-in-all, it is a great option for back sleepers.
Side sleepers in this weight range will also love the Zoma Boost Hybrid. Its soft top layers will relieve most pressure around the shoulders and hips. Plus, it is softer under the shoulder area and provides even more pressure relief there.
Stomach sleepers who weigh closer to 130 lb could get the support they need on the Zoma Boost Hybrid. However, if you weigh much more than this, the mattress will probably feel too soft for you. Strict stomach sleepers should seek out a firmer mattress.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
Heavyweight back sleepers who weigh less than 300 lb should like the Zoma Boost Hybrid. I weigh 270 lb, and I was not lacking for support. If you weigh over 300 lb, consider one of our best mattresses for heavy people.
Also, I did feel some nice pressure relief on this mattress. But, if you weigh more than 300 lb, you may push further into the mattress and feel more pressure on your shoulders and hips.
Stomach sleepers in this weight range will definitely need a firmer, more supportive mattress. Take a look at one of our best firm mattresses or best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb
With its comfortable foams, supportive coils, and zoned construction, the Zoma Boost Hybrid should work for lightweight people who sleep in any position. If you weigh less than 130 lb, you will get the comfort and support you need for back, side, and stomach sleeping.

Zoma Boost Hybrid Mattress Performance
I tested the Zoma Boost Hybrid to see how it performed with regard to cooling, edge support, and other criteria. Keep reading to see where the Zoma Boost really shines.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Like most hybrid mattresses, the Zoma Boost Hybrid is a good option for hot sleepers. It features a cooling cover, graphite and gel infusions, and coils for airflow. These materials should prevent the mattress from trapping body heat, ensuring you get a cool night of rest.
Motion Transfer
Motion transfer is something that all couples want to think about when shopping for a mattress. Motion transfer occurs when one partner moves around on their side of the mattress, and this transfers to their partner’s side of the mattress.
The Zoma Boost Hybrid performed well during my tests. I did not see much motion transfer with this mattress, so you and your partner shouldn’t be disturbing each other on this bed. See our best mattresses for couples for more options.
Edge Support
Edge support is also important for couples as it ensures each partner gets the most room to stretch out and sleep. Without good edge support, a mattress will make you feel like you are going to roll off when you lie near the edge.
The Zoma Boost got high marks in this category as well. Sitting near the edge, the mattress barely collapsed under my heavier weight. And, lying down, I did not feel like I would roll off.
Durability
The Zoma Boost Hybrid is a tall, substantial mattress that contains multiple layers of high-density foam as well as high-grade coils. Based on its construction, the Zoma Boost Hybrid should last for at least 10 years.
Off-gassing
The Zoma Boost Hybrid is a bed-in-a-box mattress that comes in a cardboard box. Unboxing the mattress, I did experience some initial off-gassing. This is normal with mattresses like this. After leaving the Zoma in a well-ventilated room, the smell dissipated quickly.
Noise
The Zoma Boost Hybrid made no noise when I rolled around and changed positions. It was extremely quiet. However, some hybrid mattresses may start to squeak after many years of use. Keep this in mind when you are looking at any coil mattress.
Sex
Partners who want a good mattress for sex need something that will make it easy to move around and change positions. The Zoma Boost Hybrid is bouncy, responsive, and shouldn’t make you feel stuck.

How Does The Zoma Boost Hybrid Compare To Other Mattresses
Ready to do some comparison shopping? Let’s see how the Zoma Boost Hybrid stacks up against its competitors.
Zoma Boost Hybrid vs Bear Star Hybrid
The Bear Star Hybrid is another high-quality hybrid with some nice cooling features. Like the Zoma Start Hybrid, it contains cooling infusions and sports a cooling cover. Both mattresses should be a great match for hot sleepers.
The main difference between these mattresses is in their support layer. The Zoma Boost Hybrid features zoning, while the Bear Star Hybrid does not. So, while the Bear Star Hybrid is generally firmer than the Zoma Boost Hybrid, it does not offer as much lumbar support for back sleeping. The Zoma Boost Hybrid is also a few inches taller than the Bear Star Hybrid.
Who Should Get The Zoma Boost Hybrid?
- Back sleepers
- Those who want a thicker mattress
Who should Get The Bear Star Hybrid?
- Fans of a firmer mattress
- Stomach sleepers
Zoma Boost Hybrid vs Zoma Hybrid
The Zoma Hybrid is a less luxurious version of the Zoma Boost Hybrid. It features fewer foam layers and is considerably thinner than the Boost Hybrid. With a thinner comfort layer, it is also firmer than the Boost Hybrid. This makes it feel firmer for stomach sleeping.
While the Zoma Hybrid does have some cooling features, they are not as advanced as what you find in the Zoma Boost Hybrid. But, those advanced features do give the Boost Hybrid a higher price tag.
