Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress Review: General Overview
I have personally tested almost every Purple model, so I am always excited to see what the brand comes up with next. Purple recently released its Luxe Collection which includes three Rejuvenate mattresses. These three mattresses are the most high-end mattresses Purple offers, and they contain Purple’s proprietary GelFlex Grid as well as multiple layers of high-density foam and a pillow top.
I tried out the Purple RejuvenatePlus mattress, which is right in the middle of the Luxe line. It is not quite as high-end as the Purple RejuvenatePremier, but it still has a lot to offer for certain types of sleepers.
Pros of the Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress
- Durable and deluxe
- Extremely cooling
- Great for combo sleepers
Cons of the Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress
- Lacks a slow-moving feel
- Has a higher price point
- Not supportive for stomach sleepers
Purple RejuvenatePlus Firmness and Feel
I first tested out the firmness and feel of the Purple RejuvenatePlus. Firmness and feel will give us a good idea of what sleeping positions this mattress is ideal for.
How Firm is the Purple RejuvenatePlus?
On a scale of 1-10, the Purple RejuvenatePlus scored a 6.5, which is exactly the industry standard for medium-firm. The top layers had a lot of give to them so, when I lay down, I sank in and felt a good bit of contouring. The plush pillow top and GelFlex Grid collapsed under the heavier parts of my body, so I experienced a great balance of comfort and support.
I will also note that the Purple RejuvenatePlus is a zoned mattress. This means that the mattress is firmer toward the center and softer toward the head and foot of the mattress. This is intended to provide extra lumbar support and to keep your spine in good, neutral alignment. Because of this design, the mattress might feel firmer or softer, depending on your sleeping position.
Sleeping on the Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress
I started off back sleeping on the Purple RejuvenatePlus mattress. The bed was a fantastic fit for this sleeping position. My hips sank in just the right amount, and I felt some great lumbar support from the zoning. I could also feel the gel grid cradling my body. Overall, this is a great mattress for back sleeping.
I also enjoyed side sleeping on the Purple mattress. The pillow top and gel grid relieved almost all pressure around my shoulders and hips while the coils held up my body. I was in good alignment and comfortable.
I even felt decent support when I moved to my stomach. The zoning held up my center mass so, again, I was in good alignment. However, if you sleep solely on your stomach, you may need a firmer mattress. The Purple RejuvenatePlus will be great if you switch positions, but if you just sleep on your stomach, take a look at our best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
What Does the Purple RejuvenatePlus Feel Like?
Usually, Purple mattresses have a very unique feel. Their GelFlex Grid gives them a squishy, responsive feel.
While I felt some of that in the RejuvenatePlus, I mostly experienced the soft feel of the pillow top. Deeper in the mattress, there was also some good response, so I had no trouble moving around.
Sleeper Weight | Back Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Lightweight (Under 130 lb) | Excellent | Excellent | Good |
Average (130 – 230 lb) | Excellent | Excellent | Fair |
Heavyweight (Over 230 lb) | Good | Good | Fair |
Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress Construction
I took a look inside the Purple RejuvenatePlus to see what was going on. Let’s talk about each layer one by one to see how this mattress works.
Cover
On top of the Purple Rejuvenate Plus, there is a cooling cover with an antimicrobial finish. This will draw heat away from your body and also prevent the top of the mattress from trapping too much dust or allergens.
The cover is quilted with foam to create a pillow-top mattress look and feel.
Comfort Layers
The first comfort layer consists of Active Response comfort foam. This, along with the pillow top, offers plush pressure relief.
Below that, there is the main comfort layer – GelFlex Grid Plus. This grid is designed to be supportive and pressure relieving at the same time. It only collapses under the heavier parts of your body, while the other areas stay flat and supported. It is also extremely cooling, as its grid design allows for a great deal of airflow.
Then, there are two layers of comfort foam that offer more pressure relief while also preventing you from feeling the coils in the support layer.
Support Layer
The mattress features zoned coils in its support layer. These are breathable and supportive, and the zoning promotes spinal alignment in all three sleeping positions.
Mattress Height
The Purple RejuvenatePlus is 16.5” tall.

Purple RejuvenatePlus Mattress Performance
I also tested the Purple to see how cooling and supportive it is. Keep reading to see what I thought.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
The Purple RejuvenatePlus has a cooling cover as well as coils and a gel grid that promote airflow through the mattress. When I slept on the mattress, I didn’t feel like I was overheating at all.
However, in my experience, the mattress did not feel as breathable as the Purple Original mattress. The pillow top and foam layers block some of the airflow at the top of the mattress. It’s not a hot-sleeping mattress, but it isn’t as cooling as some of the other Purple mattresses.

Motion Transfer
Motion transfer is something all couples should think about when purchasing a mattress. This occurs when your partner rolls around on their side of the mattress, and this transfers to your side, disturbing you.
Memory foam mattresses are usually the best at handling this, because their slow-moving foam absorbs the motion. While the Purple RejuvenatePlus does not contain memory foam, its comfort foams and gel grid both do a good job of absorbing movement. If you sleep with a partner, you shouldn’t feel their movements on your side of the mattress.
Edge Support
Edge support is also important for couples because it allows both partners to get the most surface area possible. If a mattress has poor edge support, you run the risk of rolling off the mattress.
However, this won’t be an issue with the Purple RejuvenatePlus. It boasts fantastic edge support, and I felt very secure sitting and lying down near the edge.
Durability
The Purple RejuvenatePlus features some very durable materials such as high-density foam, high-grade coils and a gel grid. These should all stand up to years of use without sagging. Based on my experience with other Purple mattresses, this bed should last for at least ten years.
Off-gassing
Off-gassing occurs with most bed-in-a-box mattresses as they let off a chemical smell as they expand. However, I did not experience this with the Purple RejuvenatePlus mattress. It arrived fully expanded and, while it did have a plastic bag around it, there was no smell when I tore off the bag.
Noise
The Purple RejuvenatePlus made no noise when I rolled around on top and changed positions. Even though it contains coils, I heard no noise whatsoever.
Keep in mind that coil mattresses may start to squeak once you’ve had them for a number of years.
Sex
This should be a great mattress for sex. It is responsive and should never make you or your partner feel stuck. This means you can move around and change positions with ease.

How Does The Purple RejuvenatePlus Compare To Other Mattresses?
It’s always a good idea to compare your prospective mattress to other similar mattresses. Let’s see how the Purple RejuvenatePlus stacks up.
Purple RejuvenatePlus vs Purple Original

The Purple Original is a much simpler mattress than the RejuvenatePlus. It features the GelFlex Grid, but it lacks the pillow top, coils and other foam layers you find in the Rejuvenate Plus. This makes it a much thinner mattress that also feels a tad firmer. Without the pillow top, you can feel the GelFlex Grid more with the Purple Original, so it has more of that unique Purple feel.
Being a more streamlined mattress, the Purple Original costs significantly less than the Purple RejuvenatePlus mattress.

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is another luxury hybrid mattress. Like the RejuvenatePlus, it features supportive coils and a plush pillow top. However, it features more foam layers on top, and does not have a GelFlex Grid like the RejuvenatePlus. This gives the DreamCloud Premier Rest a slightly different feel, and it also feels a bit softer.
While the DreamCloud Premier Rest is the most luxurious model from DreamCloud, it still costs less than the Purple RejuvenatePlus.
