Nolah Natural Video Review
Nolah Natural Mattress Overview
Nolah sells many different mattresses, including the Nolah Original 10”, the Nolah Signature 12” and the Nolah Nurture.
But if you’re looking for a durable bed made with organic materials, the Nolah Natural might be the pick for you. To help you make the best purchasing decision, I’ve outlined its pros and cons below.
Pros of the Nolah Natural Mattress
- It’s an eco-friendly mattress made with organic cotton and OEKO-Tex® certified Talalay latex.
- Side sleepers should feel plenty of pressure relief on this mattress, thanks to its soft comfort layer.
- It’s a good match for people who deal with back pain. This mattress offers a good balance of comfort and support, which helps promote the proper spinal alignment.
Cons of the Nolah Natural Mattress
- Those who prefer a slow-moving memory foam feel may want to look elsewhere. The Nolah Natural mattress has a responsive and bouncy feel.
- Stomach sleepers may not get the hip support they need on this mattress. It’s possible that stomach sleepers will sink out alignment, which can lead to lower back pain.
- It doesn’t isolate motion very well, so it’s not the best mattress for couples.

Nolah Natural Mattress Firmness and Feel
First things first, let’s examine the Nolah Natural’s firmness and feel. Then, you’ll be able to make an informed decision about whether it’s right for you.
How Firm is the Nolah Natural?
Here at Mattress Clarity, we rate mattresses on a 1-10 firmness scale. The industry standard for medium-firm mattresses is 6.5/10.
The Nolah Natural feels slightly softer than average, coming in at 6/10. Its thick layers of Talalay Latex, combined with the soft wool, makes it a bit more plush than your typical mattress. If you’re looking for a bed that offers great pressure relief, you may want to consider getting the Nolah Natural.
Sleeping On The Nolah Natural
I felt great whenever I rested on my back. This mattress offered plenty of lumbar support, but my hips were still able to sink into the latex comfort layer for some added pressure relief.
And thanks to its plush latex foam layer, the Nolah Natural creates tons of cushioning for side sleepers. When I rested in this sleeping position, I felt comfy and supported.
I don’t recommend the Nolah Natural for stomach sleepers, though. If this is your preferred sleeping position, you’ll want to look for one of the best firm mattresses. If a mattress feels too soft, your hips may sink into the top layer. This can place strain on your lower back and lead to pain.

What Does the Nolah Natural Feel Like?
Thanks to its strong coil system and responsive comfort layers, this bed feels very bouncy. You should have no problem moving around and switching sleeping positions. In fact, you’ll feel like you’re resting on top of the mattress rather than inside it.
Sleeper Weight | Back Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Lightweight (Under 130 lb) | Excellent | Good | Excellent |
Average (130 – 230 lb) | Excellent | Good | Bad |
Heavyweight (Over 230 lb) | Good | Good | Bad |
Is the Nolah Natural Mattress Good For Lightweight People (Under 130 lb)?
- It’s a great choice for lightweight back sleepers. The supportive coils and comfy latex foam offers a nice balance of comfort and support.
- Lightweight side sleepers should feel nice pressure relief along their shoulders and hips.
- It’s also a good choice for lightweight stomach sleepers. People who weigh less than 130 lb won’t compress the comfort layer too much, so they should feel plenty of hip support on this bed.
Is the Nolah Natural Mattress Good For Average Weight People (130 – 230 lb)?
- The Nolah Natural mattress works well for average weight back sleepers. The coils should help back sleepers maintain the proper spinal alignment.
- Average weight side sleepers should also feel comfy and supported on the Nolah Natural.
- Stomach sleepers in this category won’t get enough hip support on this mattress.
Is the Nolah Natural Mattress Good For Heavyweight People (Over 230 lb)?
- It’s a good choice for back sleepers who weigh less than 300 lb, but heavier people may need additional lumbar support. Take a look at our list of the best mattresses for heavy people for some more options.
- Many heavyweight side sleepers should get the proper spinal support and pressure relief on this mattress, but some people may want to look for a mattress made specifically for heavier people—the Helix PLUS is a nice option.
- It’s not supportive enough for heavyweight stomach sleepers. People in this category will want to get one of the best firm mattresses.
Nolah Natural Mattress Construction
I already mentioned that the Nolah Natural contains eco-friendly materials, but what does that mean exactly? Let’s get into it.
Cover
The Nolah Natural has a cover made from organic cotton. This gives the outside of the mattress a luxurious feel. Plus, this material is super breathable. You shouldn’t worry about the exterior trapping body heat.
Comfort Layers
The Nolah Natural has several comfort layers. First up: organic wool. Though you may think wool would make you hot, that’s not the case at all. This material helps regulate body temperature, and it acts as a natural fire barrier.
Underneath this, you’ll find a 2” layer of Talalay latex foam. This high-quality material lasts longer than Dunlop latex and traditional memory foam. It’s also much more responsive, and it stays temperature neutral.
Support Layer
Now, for the star of the show: Nolah’s patented HDMax TriZone support coil system. This 8” base layer is designed to help sleepers maintain the proper alignment throughout the night. To make the mattress even more durable, Nolah added a foundation layer made of natural wool.
Mattress Height
The Nolah Natural is 11” tall.

Nolah Natural Mattress Performance
How does its high-quality construction impact its performance? Keep reading to learn about the Nolah Natural’s cooling features, motion isolation, edge support and more.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Latex hybrid mattresses tend to sleep cool, and the Nolah Natural is no exception. The coil system creates plenty of room for airflow, and the responsive Talalay latex is naturally breathable. You shouldn’t worry about overheating on this bed.
Motion Transfer
Couples often worry about a mattress’s motion transfer. If a mattress doesn’t isolate motion well, sleepers might wake up when their partner shifts sleeping positions in the night.
Because the Nolah Natural contains bouncy innersprings, it doesn’t isolate motion particularly well. If you’re a light sleeper, you might want to consider purchasing one of the best mattresses for couples.
Edge Support
Edge support also comes up a lot when couples shop for new mattresses. What does this mean, exactly? Well, if you’re resting near the side of the bed, you will want to feel secure and stable. Otherwise, you won’t be able to utilize the full surface area of the mattress.
The Nolah Natural has decent edge support. When I sat near the side of the bed, I felt the top layers collapse underneath me. However, when I rested on the edge, I felt pretty secure. This bed doesn’t have the best edge support I’ve ever experienced, but it will work for most people.
Durability
Talalay latex, organic cotton and high-quality wool make this mattress especially durable. Overall, I expect this mattress to last at least 10 years.
Off-Gassing
When you first open a bed-in-a-box mattress, it’s common for it to off-gas. This is a fancy way of saying that it emits a slight chemical smell.
Because the Nolah Natural contains eco-friendly materials, you won’t smell a strong synthetic odor. You might, however, notice a faint earthy smell. This is completely normal, and it should fade in 24-48 hours.
Noise
When I tested this mattress, I didn’t notice any loud noises. It’s possible the coils could begin to squeak as time goes on, but I do not anticipate this turning into a huge problem.
Sex
Couples looking for the best mattress for sex usually want a bed that feels responsive and bouncy. If this is a priority, you’ll be happy to know that the Nolah Natural fits the bill. It’s extremely easy to switch positions and move around on top of this mattress.
Company Policies
When shopping for an online mattress, I always urge customers to check out the company policies. Below, I’ve outlined the warranty information, sleep trial period, return policy and more.
Warranty Info
The Nolah Natural is backed by a lifetime warranty, so you can rest assured it’s made to last.
Sleep Trial
With a 120-night trial period, Nolah gives customers several months to figure out whether it’s the right bed for them.
Return Policy
Not happy with your Nolah bed? Not to worry. As long as it’s within the original sleep trial period, you can return your mattress for a full refund.
Common Nolah Natural Mattress Complaints
Most people love this eco-friendly mattress, but a few customers had complaints. Most often, the negative reviews related to the bed’s firmness level. Because this bed feels a bit softer than average, it doesn’t work well for everyone. Stomach sleepers, for example, will want to find a more supportive mattress.
How Does The Nolah Natural Compare To Other Mattresses?
We always urge shoppers to check out several different mattress companies before making their final purchase. So, let’s see how the Nolah Natural compares to other popular mattresses, the Avocado and the Birch Luxe.

The Nolah Natural and Avocado Mattresses have similar layouts. They both contain all-natural wool, high-quality latex foam and a zoned support system. But even with these commonalities, they aren’t exactly the same.
Avocado, for example, gives customers the option to add a plush pillow top for a fee. These two beds also differ when it comes to firmness. The Nolah Natural feels slightly softer than the industry standard, coming in at 6/10. The Avocado, on the other hand, comes in at the standard 6.5/10.
Avocado mattresses do come at a higher price point, so it may not work for all budgets.

These mattresses contain organic materials, and they feel luxurious and plush. But let’s dive into the differences between the two.
The Birch Luxe has a few upgraded features, such as a quilted pillow top and a cashmere comfort layer. It also feels much firmer than the Nolah Natural, coming in at 7.5/10. Because of this, I recommend the Birch Luxe for stomach sleepers and heavier back sleepers.
Due to its high-end features, the Birch Luxe comes at a higher price point.
