Even with all these features, the Minocasa is more affordable than other hybrid mattresses on the market.

In my experience, the Minocasa Hybrid has a lot to offer, but it will be more comfortable depending on your sleeping position and firmness preferences.

Minocasa Hybrid Firmness and Feel

Let’s start off by talking about firmness and feel. This will give you an initial idea of what sleeping positions the Minocasa Hybrid will work best for.

How Firm Is The Minocasa Hybrid Mattress?

On a scale of 1-10, the Minocasa Hybrid has a firmness of 7/10. The industry standard for medium-firm is 6.5, so the Minocasa Hybrid is just firmer than average.

The top layer of the Minocasa Hybrid is soft, but the rest of the foam layers are on the firmer end. Combined with the coils, these layers give the Minocasa a firmer feel. Also, the coils are zoned, so the mattress will feel firmer when you are back and stomach sleeping and softer when you are side sleeping.

Sleeping On The Minocasa Hybrid Mattress

Starting off back sleeping on the Minocasa Hybrid, the mattress gave me a great balance of comfort and support. My hips sunk into the top layers of foam, and I experienced a bit of contouring as well.

Side sleeping, the Minocasa Hybrid was too firm, and I felt some bunching up around my shoulders and hips. Most side sleepers will want to find a softer mattress overall.

Being a firmer mattress, the Minocasa Hybrid was a decent match for stomach sleeping. The bed’s zoning provided more support under my hips, and this is very important for stomach sleeping. Without that support, your hips could sink forward and take your spine out of alignment.

What Does The Minocasa Hybrid Mattress Feel Like?

The Minocasa Hybrid features a responsive, hybrid mattress feel. The coils and foams are bouncy and make it very easy to move around and change positions. While the top layer is slightly soft, you won’t sink too far into the mattress.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb

Average weight back sleepers should enjoy sleeping on the Minocasa Hybrid mattress. They should feel the zoned coils providing extra lumbar support, while the top foam layers provide enough comfort.

Side sleepers in this weight range won’t get the best pressure relief from the Minocasa Hybrid. The comfort layer is not soft enough to prevent a bunched up feeling around the shoulders and hips.

Average weight stomach sleepers will get enough support on the Minocasa Hybrid. They shouldn’t feel their hips sinking down into the mattress.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs

Heavyweight back sleepers who weigh closer to 230 will experience good support on the Minocasa Hybrid mattress. Those who weigh 300 lb or more will want to find a more supportive mattress that can handle their extra weight.

Heavyweight side sleepers may experience better pressure relief than average weight and lightweight side sleepers. Their added weight will compress the high-density foam layers, so the Minocasa Hybrid will feel softer to them.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers who weigh under 300 lb will get all the support they require, but heavyweight stomach sleepers over 300 lb won’t get enough support. They should consider one of our best mattresses for heavy people.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb

If you weigh less than 130 lb, the Minocasa Hybrid might feel too firm for back sleeping. You could feel the mattress push your hips outward, and this will feel quite uncomfortable. Lightweight side sleepers will also feel too much pressure on their shoulders and hips, but lightweight stomach sleepers will experience good support.

Minocasa Hybrid Mattress Construction

Now, let’s look under the cover of the Minocasa Hybrid and see how the layers work.

Cover

The Minocasa Hybrid features a soft Tencel cover. It is designed to promote airflow and keep you cool during the night.

Comfort Layers

First, the Minocasa Hybrid features gel memory foam that offers a bit of pressure relief. The gel infusion prevents the memory foam from trapping body heat.

Below that, there are two layers of pressure-relieving foam that help transition you from the top comfort layer down to the supportive coils.

Support Layer

The Minocasa Hybrid contains individually-wrapped coils in its support layer. The coils are zoned so that the center of the mattress feels firmer. This is intended to keep your spine neutrally-aligned when you lie down.

Mattress Height

The mattress is 12” tall.

Minocasa Hybrid Mattress Performance

I put the Minocasa Hybrid mattress to the test with regard to cooling and motion transfer. Let’s see how it did!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

The Minocasa Hybrid is a cooler sleeping mattress. Its coils promote airflow through the bottom part of the mattress, and the top foam layer features a cooling infusion. Add in a breathable cover, and you should not be sleeping hot on the Minocasa Hybrid.

Motion Transfer

If you sleep with a partner, you want to keep motion transfer in mind. This occurs when one partner moves around on their side of the mattress, and this motion disturbs the other partner on their side of the mattress.

When I tested the Minocasa Hybrid for motion transfer, it performed well. I did not see too much motion transfer from one side of the mattress to the other. I also lay down and asked my coworker to roll around on the other side. Their movements did not disturb me.

This should be a good mattress for couples.

Edge Support

Edge support is also important for couples to consider. If your mattress features good edge support, it will allow you and your partner to sleep all the way toward the edges without falling off. This will give you more surface area to work with.

The Minocasa Hybrid boasted some solid edge support. It has a reinforced edge, so I felt secure sitting and lying down near the edge.

Durability

The Minocasa Hybrid contains some high-density foam and high-grade coils as well. Based on its construction, the Mincoasa Hybrid should last for at least seven years.

Off-gassing

When you unbox a new mattress, you may notice a slight chemical smell. This is called off-gassing, and it is normal with bed-in-a-box mattresses.

I noticed some off-gassing with the Minocasa Hybrid, but I left the mattress in a well-ventilated room, and it lost the smell within 48 hours.

Noise

The Minocasa Hybrid made no noise when I rolled around and got in and out of bed. However, some hybrid mattresses start to squeak after a few years. Keep this in mind if you are worried about your mattress being too noisy.

Sex

If you want a good mattress for sex, find something that is responsive and makes it easy to move around on. The Minocasa Hybrid fits the bill as it is bouncy and will not make you feel stuck.

Minocasa Hybrid vs Nolah Evolution Hybrid

The Nolah Evolution Hybrid is a luxury mattress that contains proprietary cooling foams over supportive, zoned coils. The construction is similar to that of the Minocasa Hybrid, but the Nolah Evolution is taller and softer.

It also features a more luxurious design that boasts more advanced cooling features. However, with these extra features, the Nolah Evolution Hybrid costs more than the Minocasa Hybrid.
