Leesa Legend Mattress Overview
As the name suggests, the Leesa Legend comes from Leesa, one of the more popular bed in a box companies. They have had great success with their models such as the Leesa Original, Leesa Sapira Hybrid, and Studio by Leesa mattress. The Leesa Legend is their most top-of-the-line mattress and sports high-end foams, coils, and a zoned construction.
While the Leesa Legend is a nice mattress in many regards, it’s going to be a better fit for some people and not the best fit for others. Here’s a quick preview:

Leesa Legend Mattress Firmness and Feel
When you’re looking for a mattress, it’s always a good idea to start with firmness and feel. This will give you an initial idea of whether or not the Leesa Legend is a good fit for you.
How Firm Is The Leesa Legend?
We give the Leesa Legend about a 6.0 out of 10 on the firmness scale. This places it squarely in the medium-firm range, which makes it a good, balanced option for back and side sleepers, in particular. The comfort layer and memory foam layer offer pressure relief and a slightly cushioning feel, but not so much that you’ll feel like you’re disappearing into the mattress.
Sleeping On The Leesa Legend
In our testing, we found the Leesa Legend to be just about perfect for back sleeping. It offers the blend of comfort and support that back sleepers crave, pushing up into the lumbar area while still allowing the hips to sink a bit.
For side sleepers, the Leesa Legend offers ample pressure relief, ensuring that you never feel like your shoulder or hip is being mashed into the mattress. Those plush top layers of the mattress really come through.
For stomach sleepers, however, the Leesa Legend may be a little too soft. What we found is that the hips bow into the mattress, causing some strain in the lower back.
What Does The Leesa Legend Feel Like?
The Leesa Legend boasts a balanced feel. It’s also a highly-responsive mattress; in other words, it’s got some bounce to it, making it easy to comfortably move around on the bed or change sleeping positions. This is mostly thanks to the springy polyfoam, along with the double layer of coils.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230 lbs
For average weight back sleepers, the Leesa Legend offers a great balance of comfort and support. You’ll get some of that cushioning, contouring sensation of the foam, but you won’t feel like you’re bottoming out or bowing into the mattress. Side sleepers in the average weight category should also find this a good fit, with plenty of pressure relief. For stomach sleepers, though, we just don’t think the Leesa Legend provides enough support. You may feel like you’re sinking too much, unable to maintain a healthy posture.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs
We think heavyweight back sleepers will generally find the Leesa Legend to work well for them, though those who are 300 lbs or more may want to look for a mattress for heavy people. The same is true for side sleeping: If you’re under 300 lbs, you should be fine. If you’re more than 300 lbs, consider something made with heavyweight sleepers in mind. For heavyweight stomach sleepers, the Leesa Legend isn’t supportive enough.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 230 lbs
The Leesa Legend is a great option for lightweight back sleepers and side sleepers alike. Those who sleep on their stomach will probably find the mattress a little too soft, though those who are very lightweight may be alright.

Leesa Legend Mattress Construction
Now, let’s take a closer look at the layers found in the Leesa Legend. We will look at each layer one by one and discuss how they affect the overall performance of the mattress.
Cover
The mattress cover is soft, beautiful, and good for the environment. It’s made from Merino wool, 100% recycled cotton, and fiber made from recycled water bottles.
Comfort Layers
The top layer of the Leesa Legend is made from polyfoam, designed to be bouncy and ventilated to keep the mattress cool. Below this layer, there’s some memory foam, which helps slow the movement of the bed and also adds some pressure point relief.
A layer of micro coils contributes some bounce and targeted support. This layer is zoned, meaning it’s firmer at the center of the mattress. This is especially helpful for combination sleepers as it helps the mattress support multiple sleeping positions.
A thin, polyfoam transition layer is next, and aids in preventing you from feeling like you’re bottoming out.
Support Layer
A layer of pocketed springs adds some durability and stability to the mattress.
Mattress Height
The Leesa Legend is 12” tall.

Leesa Legend Mattress Performance
We ran the Leesa Legend through a number of tests with regard to cooling, motion transfer, and edge support. Let’s see how the Leesa Legend did!
Sleeping Hot or Cold
The Leesa Legend is designed from top to bottom to provide a cooler sleep experience. Each element helps ensure the flow of air and cooling for the body – from the soft cover to the airy foam to the innerspring coils.
Motion Transfer
We noticed a little bit of disturbance on the Leesa Legend, but nothing major. Overall, this is a good pick for couples who share a bed together, minimizing disruptions that partners experience.
Edge Support
This sturdy mattress offers excellent edge support. We felt very stable and comfortable, even when sitting at the corner of the bed.
Durability
The Leesa Legend is made from high-end materials and intended to last a good long while. It’s very durable and should hold up for seven to 10 years at a minimum.
Off-gassing
We experienced a mild chemical odor when we unboxed the Leesa Legend, but it went away after a couple of days. This is normal for a bed in a box mattress like the Leesa Legend.
Noise
We moved around on the mattress and didn’t notice any noise at all. With that said, be aware that it has coils, and over time coils can sometimes become a little bit squeaky.
Sex
Thanks to the springy mattress feel, it’s very easy to move around and change positions on the Leesa Legend. It should be a comfortable mattress for sex.
Company Policies
Now, let’s take a closer look at the fine print for the Leesa Legend mattress.

Those who are looking into the Leesa Legend may be curious how this bed compares with the original Leesa Sapira Hybrid. The short answer is, both mattresses are well-made and easy to recommend, but the Leesa Legend is a little more luxurious (plus more expensive). Consider it the deluxe version.
The Leesa Legend offers an extra set of coils, which makes it both more supportive and more durable. At the same time, the plush foam layers make it a little softer, as well. The mattress feel is pretty comparable, but the Legend does cost more.

The Casper Wave Hybrid is Casper’s most luxurious mattress and the Leesa Legend’s main competition. There are a few similarities – they are both hybrid mattresses and feature some sort of zoning in their construction. Also, they are responsive mattresses and make it easy to move around at night.
However, they do have their differences as well. In our experience, the Casper Wave Hybrid is a bit firmer than the Leesa Legend. Also, the Leesa Legend contains an extra layer of coils, while the Casper Wave Hybrid does not. In addition, the Casper Wave Hybrid features much more advanced zoning in its middle layers.
Finally, speaking of price, the Casper Wave Hybrid costs a few hundred dollars more than the Leesa Legend.
Who Should Get The Leesa Legend?
- Those looking to spend a bit less money.
- Side sleepers.
Who Should Get The Casper Wave Hybrid?
- Back sleepers who need more focused support
