Full Moon Mattress Firmness and Feel
Firmness and feel – they’re two of the most important elements to consider when buying a new mattress. Let’s see what the Full Moon is all about!
How Firm is the Full Moon?
The Full Moon mattress feels like a 6/10 on our firmness scale, which is a half point lower than the industry standard of medium firm. If you’re a fan of soft mattresses, keep reading!
Sleeping On The Full Moon
Because this mattress is much thinner than others on the market, it is best suited for lightweight folks. People who weigh less than 130 lbs should feel well supported while back and side sleeping. That’s why we think this is a great mattress for kids and for teenagers!
The Full Moon mattress isn’t firm enough for stomach sleepers. Average weight and heavy people also won’t get the support they need on this mattress.

What Does the Full Moon Feel Like?
The Full Moon mattress has a classic slow-moving memory foam feel. Most adults will sink pretty far into the top layer. The Full Moon isn’t as supportive as many hybrid mattresses, so heavier people will likely bottom out on this bed.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
In general, we don’t recommend this mattress for average weight sleepers. People who weigh more than 130 lb will sink into the comfort layer, so they won’t get the necessary lumbar support. If you fall in this category, take a look at our list of the best mattresses of 2024.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
The Full Moon Mattress doesn’t work well for heavyweight sleepers. Heavier folks will bottom out on this mattress, no matter the sleeping position. People who weigh more than 230 lb will have more success with a firm mattress. If you weigh more than 300 lb, check out our list of the best mattresses for heavy people.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb
Here’s where the Full Moon mattress really shines. Lightweight sleepers should feel a great balance of comfort and support in all three sleeping positions. It’s a great choice for a growing child, and you can’t beat the price.

Full Moon Mattress Construction
Now, let’s look a little deeper and see what this mattress is made out of.
Mattress Height
The Full Moon mattress is 8” tall, which is thinner than most mattresses.
Cover
The Full Moon mattress has a thin and breathable cover.
Comfort Layer
The comfort layer consists of full body cooling gel foam. This slow-moving material helps relieve pain along pressure points, and the gel helps pull heat away from the body.
Support Layer
At the bottom, you’ll find a thick layer of Full Moon’s total support foam. This dense material helps lightweight sleepers maintain the correct spinal alignment throughout the night.
Full Moon Mattress Size Options and Price
We can’t forget about one of Full Moon’s best qualities – its price! Below, you’ll find a handy chart outlining the mattresses size options and price points.

Full Moon Mattress Performance
We put the Full Moon mattress through a number of tests. Keep reading to learn more about its cooling properties, motion isolation, edge support, durability, and more.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
All-foam mattresses tend to trap heat more than hybrid models. However, the Full Moon has a few features that help combat this issue. First of all, the thin cover feels nice and breathable. Also, the gel memory foam helps dissipate body heat.
However, because the Full Moon doesn’t contain innersprings, it may not work for some extremely hot sleepers. If you tend to overheat at night, check out our list of the best cooling mattresses.
Motion Transfer
Couples — take note! Motion isolation can play a big part in whether you get a good night’s sleep. If your bed doesn’t isolate your partner’s movements, you might wake up when they switch sleeping positions.
The Full Moon mattress isolates motion well, but we still don’t think it’s the best mattress for couples because it can’t support heavier weights. If you share a bed with a loved one, check out our list of the best mattresses for couples.
Edge Support
Edge support also deserves your attention, especially if you share a bed with someone. If the edges of a mattress can’t support your weight, you’ll be forced to sleep toward the center of the bed. This means there’s less room to spread out and relax.
The Full Moon mattress doesn’t have great edge support. When we rested near the edge, we sank through the top comfort layer and felt like we might roll off the mattress.
Durability
Most mattresses last between seven and 10 years. But because the Full Moon is only 8” tall and contains just two foam layers, we expect it to last about five years.
Off-Gassing
When you unbox an online mattress, it’s common to notice a chemical smell. We call this “off-gassing,” and it occurred when we opened the Full Moon. But, after 48 hours, the smell completely disappeared.
Noise
The Full Moon is a very quiet mattress. You won’t notice any squeaking sounds coming from this bed.
Sex
Typically, sexual partners want a mattress that feels bouncy and responsive. If this is a top priority, you might want to look for a hybrid mattress. The Full Moon mattress has a slow-moving feel, and it’s difficult to move around on top of it. Check out our list of the best mattresses for sex for some other options.
Company Policies
We always urge shoppers to read the fine print before buying a new mattress. Here’s a quick overview of Full Moon’s company policies.
Warranty Info
The Full Moon mattress is backed by a 15-year warranty.
Sleep Trial
The Full Moon mattress has a 120-night sleep trial period, which allows customers to test the mattress within the comfort of their homes.
Return Policy
If, during the trial period, you decide the Full Moon mattress isn’t for you, you can return it for a full refund.
How Does the Full Moon Compare to Other Mattresses?
We understand how difficult mattress shopping can be. To alleviate the stress, we’ve compared the Full Moon with two other popular cheap mattresses, the Allswell and Linenspa.
Full Moon vs Allswell
Allswell, Walmart’s mattress brand, is known for their low prices and high-quality materials. The Original Allswell feels much firmer than the Full Moon mattress, coming in at 7.5/10. This means it’s a better pick for back and stomach sleepers.
These two mattresses differ significantly when it comes to construction. Allswell sells hybrid mattresses, so all of their models have coils for support. Allswell mattresses also feel much more responsive than Full Moon beds.
The Allswell and Full Moon cost the same, so it ultimately boils down to what you want your mattress to feel like. Here’s a quick overview of who should purchase each bed:
Who Should Get the Full Moon Mattress?
- Kids and teens
- Side sleepers
- People who like a mattress with a slow-moving feel
Who Should Get the Allswell?
- Adult back and stomach sleepers
- Fans of firm mattresses
- People who like a bouncy and responsive feel
Read our full Allswell mattress review.
Full Moon vs Linenspa
Linenspa sells several different products, but for this comparison we’ll focus on their memory foam hybrid mattress. This bed feels much firmer than the Full Moon, coming in at 7.5/10 on our scale. Back and stomach sleepers should feel supported on this bed.
Because the Linenspa is a hybrid mattress, it feels bouncy and responsive. The Full Moon, on the other hand, has a slow-moving memory foam feel. The Full Moon mattress also feels much softer than the Linenspa, so we recommend it for lightweight side sleepers.
Linenspa is one of the most affordable mattress brands on the market. However, we don’t expect this mattress to have a long lifespan. It’s better suited for people who need a short-term solution.
Who Should Get the Full Moon Mattress?
- Fans of softer mattresses
- People who love all-foam mattresses
- Kids and teenagers
Who Should Get the Linenspa?
- Back and stomach sleepers
- People who like bouncy mattresses
- Those who want to save money

FAQs
Eager to learn more? We’ve got you covered. Check out our FAQ section below.
How long will the Full Moon mattress last?
Because it’s a value mattress, we don’t expect the Full Moon to last as long as others on the market. While most mattresses last 7-10 years, the Full Moon will likely only last for about five.
Can you flip the Full Moon mattress?
No, this isn’t a flippable mattress. The bed has a dense support layer on the bottom and soft comfort layer on top. If you flipped the mattress, you wouldn’t get enough pressure relief.
What if I don’t like my Full Moon mattress?
Full Moon has a 120-night sleep trial period, which allows customers to test the mattress in their bedroom for several months. If you decide you aren’t happy with your purchase during this time, you can return it for a full refund.
