Endy vs Silk & Snow Mattress Overview

Both Endy and Silk & Snow come from our friends to the north, Canada. After seeing success in the Canadian market, both companies have expanded into the US market with comfortable, budget mattresses.

Endy currently offers two mattresses – the Endy and the Endy Hybrid. They feature Endy’s proprietary foam, a responsive, breathable alternative to memory foam. We will focus on the brand’s flagship model, the Endy.

Silk & Snow offers three mattresses – the Silk & Snow memory foam mattress, the Silk & Snow Hybrid, and the Silk & Snow Organic latex mattress. We pitted their most popular model, the all-foam Silk & Snow, against the Endy all-foam mattress. They have a number of similarities, but they are still going to be a better fit for different types of sleepers.

Who Should Get The Endy?

  • Fans of bouncy mattresses
  • People with mobility issues

Who Should Get The Silk & Snow?

  • Those who like a memory foam feel
  • Shoppers who want to spend less money.

Similarities Between The Endy And Silk & Snow

These mattresses are quite similar, and at first, this makes it difficult to choose between them:

  • The Endy and Silk & Snow are both all-foam mattresses.
  • They are both Canadian mattresses that are also sold in the US.
  • The Endy and Silk & Snow are medium-firm mattresses.
  • They have the exact same thickness.

Differences Between The Endy And Silk & Snow

When we look more closely at the Endy and Silk & Snow, there are some noticeable differences.

  • The mattresses have slightly different feels.
  • The Silk & Snow costs less than the Endy mattress.
  • Silk & Snow offers a longer warranty period.

Firmness And Feel Differences

A mattress’s firmness and feel will give you an initial idea of what sleeping positions it should be a good fit for.

How Firm Are The Endy And Silk & Snow Mattresses?

The industry standard for medium-firm is 6.5/10, and our reviewers thought both the Endy and Silk & Snow were exactly that. Both mattresses have very soft foam layers on top, and then the layers get firmer as you push down into the mattress. Also, the support foams in the Endy and Silk & Snow are very firm and supportive.

When you combine these layers and their firmnesses, the Endy and Silk & Snow have a perfect balance of comfort and support.

Sleeping On The Endy And Silk & Snow

Starting off with the Endy, our reviewer, Joe, thought the mattress was a good fit for back sleeping. His hips sank into the top layer of Endy foam, while the transition layer and base layer supported his body. This is not surprising, as medium-firm mattresses usually work well for back sleepers.

When he slept on his side, our reviewer experienced nice relief on his pressure points. The Endy was soft enough to relieve any build-up of pressure around his shoulders and hips. As we’ll discuss below, larger sleepers might have a different experience on the Endy.

While our reviewer enjoyed a good bit of support while stomach sleeping, he thought it still might not be the best fit for strict stomach sleepers. The Endy is only medium-firm and, if you want the extra support that stomach sleeping requires, consider a firm mattress or one of our best mattresses for stomach sleepers.

Our other reviewer, Elisa, tried out the Silk & Snow in all three sleeping positions. First off, she thought the Silk & Snow gave her a good balance of comfort and support. Like the Endy, the Silk & Snow is medium-firm and a good option for back sleepers.

She also liked the pressure relief the Silk & Snow had to offer. She pressed into the mattress a bit, but she did not bottom out. She felt the majority of the pressure on her shoulders and hips melt away.

However, she did not like the Silk & Snow for stomach sleeping. She could feel her hips bowing down into the mattress, and this caused some pain in her lower back. Again, consider a firmer mattress if you are a stomach sleeper or struggle with back pain.

What Do The Endy And Silk & Snow Feel Like?

The Endy mattress features proprietary Endy foam that is more responsive than standard memory foam. This gives the top of the mattress a bouncy feel. The mattress lets you sink in a fair bit, but you should have no trouble moving around.

The Silk & Snow exhibits more of a classic memory foam feel. With high-density memory foam right on top, the Silk & Snow lets you sink in slowly and hugs your curves as well. It is not so easy to move around on the Silk & Snow, but you won’t feel stuck in this mattress.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb

Average weight back sleepers should enjoy the Endy and Silk & Snow mattresses. Both will offer good contouring and their base layers should be able to support people in this weight range.

Side sleepers who are at the lower end of this weight range should get the right amount of pressure relief on the Endy and Silk & Snow. However, those who are closer to 230 lb might bottom out and hit the support layers beneath. This could cause some serious pressure issues around the shoulders and hips.

Similarly, stomach sleepers who weigh closer to 130 lb could feel properly supported on both these mattresses. If you weigh over 200 lb and sleep just on your stomach mattress, a firmer mattress will be in order.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb

Neither of these mattresses are made with larger people in mind. Heavy people usually require a mattress with coils. Coils are more supportive than base foam and handle more weight. Without coils, the Endy and Silk & Snow just won’t offer enough support for bigger bodies. Heavier back, side, and stomach sleepers should look at our best mattresses for heavy people.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb

While the Endy and Silk & Snow aren’t a good match for heavy people, they are a fantastic choice for lightweight sleepers. Lightweight adults, children, and teens don’t require as much support. Because of this, the Endy and Silk & Snow should work for lightweight back, side, and stomach sleepers.

Mattress Construction Differences

We unzipped both mattresses to look at the different materials found in the Endy and Silk & Snow.

Cover

The Endy features a micro-quilted cover that is soft-to-the-touch and promotes airflow through the top of the mattress. The Silk & Snow’s cover is breathable and features an antimicrobial fabric that prevents bacteria from building up.

Comfort Layers

The Endy’s top layer contains the brand’s proprietary Endy foam. This material is designed to be bouncier than memory foam. It is also open-celled, meaning it is breathable and won’t trap heat as much as some memory foam. Below that, there is a foam transition layer that keeps you from sinking too far into the mattress.

In its top layer, the Silk & Snow features high-density gel memory foam. Memory foam is known for trapping heat, but the gel infusion is meant to help dissipate that heat. This sits on a foam transition layer as well.

Support Layers

Both the Endy and Silk & Snow feature thick base foam in their support layers. These foams are firmer than the comfort foams and are designed to offer the support that you need.

Mattress Height

The Endy and Silk & Snow are both 10” tall.

Endy and Silk & Snow Performance Differences

Our reviewers put these mattresses to the test! They tested them for cooling, motion transfer, and a lot more.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

The Endy and Silk & Snow contain materials that are meant to combat this heat build-up. Endy’s comfort foam is open-celled, so it will be more breathable than memory foam. The Silk & Snow’s memory foam contains a gel infusion to assist in heat dissipation.

However, these are both all-foam mattresses, so they aren’t going to be as breathable or cooling as a hybrid mattress. Without coils, both mattresses may trap some heat.

Motion Transfer

If you want a mattress for couples, you want to keep motion transfer in mind. If you’ve ever felt your partner moving around on their side of the mattress, you’ve experienced motion transfer. Your partner’s motions transferred to your side of the mattress, disturbing you.

Thankfully, mattresses like the Endy and Silk & Snow cut down on this motion transfer. Their top layers of foam absorb this motion, keeping you and your partner from disturbing each other at night.

Edge Support

If you and your partner want to get the most out of your mattress, you also want to think about edge support. If your mattress features solid edge support, you and your partner can sleep all the way toward the edges without falling out.

When our reviewers tested these mattresses for edge support, neither bed performed too well. The edges collapsed under our reviewers’ weight, making it difficult to sit and lie down near the edge.

Durability

The Endy and Silk & Snow are value all-foam mattresses that might not be the best long-term investments. Without coils, their foams might start to break down after a number of years, leading to some sagging.

Still, these are high-density foams, so the mattresses could last for as long as 7 years.

Off-gassing

If you’ve ever unboxed a new bed-in-a-box, you’ve probably noticed a slight chemical smell. This is called off-gassing, and it is completely normal with bed-in-a-box mattresses.

When our reviewers unboxed the Endy and Silk & Snow, they did get a whiff of that chemical off-gassing. However, they left them in ventilated rooms for 48 hours, and the smells dissipated.

Noise

The Endy and Silk & Snow do not feature coils, so they are very quiet mattresses. When our reviewers rolled around on these mattresses and changed positions, they heard no noise whatsoever.

Sex

Couples who want a good mattress for sex should find a bouncy mattress. With that in mind, the Endy is going to be the better option for sex. It is more responsive than the Silk & Snow and makes it easier to move around.

Company Policies

Let’s take a closer look at the fine print for Endy and Silk & Snow.

Warranty Info

Endy offers a 10-year warranty, and Silk & Snow offers a 15-year warranty.

Sleep Trial

Both mattresses come with a 100-night sleep trial period.

Return Policy

You get free shipping and returns with both mattresses.
