Sometimes mattress shopping can be made easier by looking at all the options available on one page. Cloverlane offers its signature mattress in hybrid and all-foam models, which is nice to compare. But options don’t stop there, because Cloverlane also offers each bed in three firmness options.
Being a one-stop shop is certainly a plus when trying to figure out what bed to buy. In my unbiased Cloverlane mattress review, I take you through my testing process, which includes assessing firmness, feel, how it works in each sleeping position, materials, and more. For reference, I tested the Premium Plush hybrid version. Let’s get into the full review.

We recommend this mattress for the following sleeper types:
Couples
This bed has great motion isolation so you will not feel your partner tossing and turning at night.Back Sleeping
Ideal for lightweight and average weight back sleepers.Stomach Sleeping
Ideal for lightweight and average weight stomach sleepers.I recommend the Cloverlane Hybrid for…
- Back sleepers. This is a tall bed with a zoned construction, meaning it feels firmer in the middle. This offers a great amount of support for back sleepers who need it in the lumbar area.
- Fans of bouncy mattresses. Cloverlane does sell an all-foam model, but the hybrid features both coils and memory foam, giving it a bouncy feel.
- People looking for options. As mentioned, you can get this bed in an all-foam version, but it also comes in three different firmness options, so it fits a wide variety of body types and sleeping positions.
I don’t recommend the Cloverlane Hybrid for…
- Budget-minded shoppers. This is more of a luxury pick, and a queen-size Cloverlane will cost around before discounts.
- Fans of slow-moving memory foam. Again, this is a hybrid mattress, so it’s going to have a bouncy and springy feel. You won’t sink into this bed like an all-foam bed.
- Couples who are easily disturbed by their partner’s movements. This bed is OK at motion isolation, so if you’re a particularly light sleeper who notices everything in the night, you may notice your partner get in and out of bed or change position. Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress Test Performance: My Overall Thoughts
After all my tests, the Cloverlane earned an average score of 4.4/5. I gave it perfect scores for its warranty and trial period, but I also rated it fairly high in the support, durability, and response categories. You can see each score individually in the chart below, as well as what each category means.
I also broke down each category, detailed my testing process, and explained why I scored it the way I did. Keep reading for the full scoop.
Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress Performance
Support: 4.5/5
When testing for support, I get on mattresses and quickly change between back, side, and stomach sleeping to assess how well supported I felt. I tested the Premium Plush version of this bed, so that’s what I’ll be basing my support score on.
Starting with my back, I felt incredibly well supported. The top layers of foam cradled my body, and the coils kept my spine in alignment. Moving over to my side, I felt a little pressure on my shoulders and hips. Soft beds usually work well for side sleepers, but because this felt more medium-firm to me, I wasn’t able to get the pressure relief I needed. On my stomach, I felt supported, but the firmer versions of this bed will work much better in this position.
Overall, because the Cloverlane comes in three firmnesses, I can confidently say that there’s going to be a match for each sleeping position and body type. Because of that, I rated support pretty high.
Edge Support: 4/5
Edge support is a category that couples may want to consider. Beds with poor edge support usually cause couples to sleep in the center of the bed, rather than enjoying the full surface area. Beds with good edge support mean you can sleep closer to the edge of the mattress without feeling like you’ll fall off.
On the Cloverlane Hybrid, I felt fairly secure on the edge, whether I was on my side or sitting down. I’m a bigger guy though, around 270 lbs. People lighter than me should feel more secure on the edge.
I also measured the amount of sinkage with a tape measure. I sat down on the edge with my tape measure by my side, and I compressed the bed about 6”.
It may seem like a lot, but again, keep in mind that weight is a factor here, and the bed itself is quite tall, too. With this in mind, I rated edge support just above average.
Cooling: 4/5
Mattresses that feature coils in their support layer tend to work better for hot sleepers because air can pass through the coils much easier than a solid slab of foam. And overall, the Cloverlane did a good job at staying cool for me. It has a few cooling innovations worked into it like a heat-wicking quilted top layer, breathable cotton cover, and, again, those coils at the bottom.
For further proof, I brought out my thermal gun to test the temperature of the surface. Before I got in, the Cloverlane was sitting at around 73 F. Then, I climbed into bed, waited about five minutes, then got up. The thermal gun read 78.3 F. So, the surface warmed up about five degrees. Personally, this wasn’t super noticeable, but considering it’s close to 80 F, it might not be the best choice for exceptionally hot sleepers. Take a look at my list of the best cooling mattresses for some more options.
Motion Transfer: 4/5
Motion transfer is exactly what it sounds like: How does motion transfer through this mattress? You might also see this called motion isolation, but regardless, I test this in two ways. The first is the realistic test, where I get in bed and have one of my co-workers get in on the other side and move around. Being a hybrid mattress, the Cloverlane had some motion transfer. But with its thick foam on top, I only noticed a little bit of motion from the other person.
As more of a visual test, I placed a glass of water in the middle of the bed. Then, I pressed my hands into the area surrounding the glass. I noticed a little bit of movement in the water, but it wasn’t dramatic sloshing, more just small ripples.
For these reasons, I gave the Cloverlane Hybrid a fairly high score of 4/5. It could work well for couples, because each person shouldn’t feel too much of their partner’s movements coming over to their side of the bed. But particularly light sleepers may notice their partners move around still.
Response: 4.5/5
The higher a response score is, the easier it is to move around on a mattress. The Cloverlane Hybrid was very easy to move around on during my tests. I could switch positions easily, and I didn’t feel “stuck inside” the layers.
I also pressed my hand into the cover and saw that the mattress sprang into place almost immediately. It’s not as responsive as an innerspring mattress, but it’s pretty close. Because of this, I scored response just nearly perfect.
Durability: 4.5/5
I’m not able to test mattresses for several years, so I base durability scores off of the mattress’s materials and construction. Cloverlane uses high-quality materials and tall, sturdy coils in this bed. Because of this, I see the Cloverlane Hybrid lasting at least 10 years with good care. The firmer versions might last longer than the Premium Plush. Still, I rated the durability score fairly high.
Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress Company Policy Scores
Trial Period: 5/5
Cloverlane offers a 365-day trial period. This means you’ll have a whole year to test this bed out at home. During this trial, you’ll be able to make return or exchange decisions. I recommend testing the bed out for 30 days before issuing a return, just so you give yourself an adjustment period.
If you decide that the Cloverlane isn’t for you, you’ll be able to return the mattress with free shipping (so long as you do it within the trial period). Because of this, I gave full marks to the trial period.
Warranty: 5/5
Cloverlane offers a Forever Warranty, which is to say, a lifetime warranty. If the mattress shows up damaged because of factory defects, or it deteriorates quickly outside of normal wear and tear, Cloverlane will offer a full replacement or repair it free of charge.
Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress – Other Factors to Consider
Two-Hour Nap
No mattress test is complete without a nap. I found that the Cloverlane Hybrid worked best for me on my back, and after about two hours, I felt really good when I woke up. This bed is just so tall, and those coils are really able to support me. Plus, there’s a zoned section in the comfort layer, meaning it feels firmer in the middle, which provides even more support for the lumbar area of my spine.
I live in Texas, and it can get pretty hot down here. Even as a hot sleeper myself, I didn’t really notice the Cloverlane overheating. Sure, I have the AC running at all times, but even with that context, I think my fellow hot sleepers won’t face any issues on this bed.
Off-Gassing
Off-gassing refers to beds that are compressed into a cardboard box needing some time to expand and let the chemical smell dissipate. The Cloverlane mattress is delivered to you with white glove delivery and is fully expanded, so it can be slept on right away. There won’t be an off-gassing period needed here.
Noise
I only tested my Cloverlane mattress out for a handful of days. During this time, the bed didn’t make a lot of noise, except for some rustling as I changed positions. However, because the Cloverlane mattress has coils, it could start to squeak over time.
Sex
Mattresses ideal for sex usually have a good amount of bounce and responsiveness to them. This makes them easy to move around on, so you or your partner won’t feel stuck in the top layers of the bed. Because the Cloverlane Hybrid has coils, it will naturally have a good amount of bounce and response to it. This should be a good mattress for sex.
Mattress Height
The Cloverlane Hybrid is 15” tall. This makes it much taller than your standard mattress, which is usually around 10”-12” tall.
Sleeping Position and Weight
Before I go into too much detail about how the Cloverlane Hybrid mattress worked for each sleeping position and different body types, it’s worth reminding that I tested the Premium Plush model. The other two firmnesses of this bed will perform differently.
The Premium Plush Cloverlane is a great match for lightweight sleepers across the board. Back sleepers will feel well supported, and the zoning will offer more lumbar support than a bed without zoning. Lightweight side and stomach sleepers won’t compress this bed too much, so they should still feel well supported here.
Average-to-heavyweight sleepers might want to look at the Medium and Luxury Firm versions of this bed, as the Plush started to falter for side and stomach sleepers in these weight categories. It still works very well for back sleepers, but side sleepers might want to opt for the all-foam version because it offers more pressure relief. Stomach sleepers do well on firm beds in general because they can keep hips elevated, which in turn helps the spine stay in a neutral position.
I’ve also put together a chart for quick reference to help out (again, this reflects the Cloverlane Hybrid Premium Plush model).
Sleeper Weight | Back Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Lightweight (130 lbs or under) | Excellent | Good | Excellent |
Average-weight (130 to 230 lbs) | Excellent | Fair | Good |
Heavyweight (230 lbs and up) | Good | Poor | Fair |
Heavyweight Tester – 6’7”, 270 lbs
“The Cloverlane really shone while I slept on my back. I felt the most amount of comfort and support in this position. There was a little bit of pressure on my side, and my hips began to sink in a little while on my stomach. I think side sleepers will do better on the all-foam, and stomach sleepers will do better on the Luxury Firm hybrid.” – Marten
Average Weight Tester – 5’3”, 150 lbs
“I felt pretty good no matter what position I was in on the Cloverlane. There was a small amount of pressure on my side, but nothing too bothersome. I also felt really good on my back, and I think some average-weight sleepers could get away on their stomach here, though maybe for a quick nap.” – Elisa
Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress Construction
Let’s take a second to look at the high-quality materials that go into the Cloverlane Hybrid mattress.
Cover
The outer cover of the Cloverlane Hybrid is made of a polyester blend fabric. It is designed with cooling fibers that help wick away heat and keep you cool. There are also 16 brass vents along the sides of the cover to boost airflow within the mattress.
Comfort Layers
There are four main comfort layers in the Cloverlane Hybrid: a Euro top, a layer of gel memory foam, a layer of latex foam, and a transitional layer.
The Euro top is 1.75” thick and is made with memory foam to offer pressure relief and a soft, plush feel. Underneath that is the 2” layer of gel-infused memory foam, which works to pull body heat away and keep you cool.
The layer of latex foam is .5” thick and rests between the gel foam and transitional layer. It’s only found in the middle of these two layers and is the zoned part of this bed. This offers more lumbar support for the spine.
Finally, there is the 2.5” thick transitional layer that offers support and stability and rests on top of the coils.
Support Layers
The support layer is made of 8” tall steel coils. These coils are individually wrapped and are surrounded by a wall of high-density memory foam to offer additional edge support. The coils give the bed a bouncy feel.
How to Try and Buy the Cloverlane Hybrid Mattress
Currently, Cloverlane is strictly an online retailer, meaning you can only buy a mattress if you purchase one from the website. The good news here is that you have a 365-day trial period, so you have plenty of time to decide if the bed is right for you.

Cloverlane vs Helix
If you’re in the market for a new bed, chances are you’ve heard of Helix. This company is all about options, with six base models and two lines of upgraded Luxe and Elite versions of those base models. One of the most popular beds from Helix is the Midnight Luxe.
The Cloverlane Hybrid and the Midnight Luxe are both hybrid mattresses, meaning they have memory foam comfort layers and coil support layers.
However, the feeling is much different. The memory foam layers in the Midnight Luxe have a classic foam feel so you’ll sink into these top layers a bit more than the Cloverlane. For some, this is ideal, but the trade off is you might feel stuck. The Cloverlane doesn’t quite have that sinking feeling that the Midnight Luxe has.
Both should work well for hot sleepers, although I give the edge to Helix because you can also opt for a cooling cover. Both have similar price points, with Cloverlane at $2199.00 and the Midnight Luxe at $2373.80. But the Midnight Luxe is compressed into a box, whereas the Cloverlane isn’t, so the Midnight Luxe will need an off-gassing period.
Be sure to read my Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review for more info.
Cloverlane vs Avocado
When it comes to organic materials, no one does it better than Avocado. All the materials used in an Avocado bed are certified organic and are proven to be produced in safe and eco-friendly ways. Avocado’s materials are also sourced ethically and responsibly,so if that’s a major concern for you, Avocado is already the way to go.
That’s not to say that Cloverlane doesn’t use high-quality materials; it’s just that the comfort layer is made with memory foam rather than natural Talalay latex used in the Avocado mattress. This gives the Avocado a much different feel than the Cloverlane. Latex foam is bouncy and springy and doesn’t let you sink into it the way traditional memory foam does.
So if you’d prefer a more plush feel, the Cloverlane is the better choice here. Both mattresses come in three firmness options and cost around the same: Cloverlane costs $2199.00 and Avocado costs $1999.00. In this bed battle, it comes down to preferences of materials and feeling.
Read more about this mattress in my Avocado Green mattress review.
Cloverlane vs Saatva
Visually, the Saatva Classic and Cloverlane mattresses look almost identical. And there are some similarities to these beds, but the differences lie in the construction. For starters, the Cloverlane mattress has a thicker comfort layer than the Saatva classic. Both have memory foam in the comfort layers, but there’s a total of 6” of foam in the Cloverlane. Saatva’s comfort layer only has about 3” of foam.
This gives the Cloverlane a softer, more plush feeling right on top. Both beds do come in multiple firmness options, but if you want a firmer feeling mattress, go with Saatva. This bed features two sets of coils to offer a good amount of support. These coils are also zoned, meaning they feel firmer in the middle to offer more lumbar support.
Both shouldn’t trap too much heat, but I give the cooling advantage to Cloverlane thanks to its specialized cooling cover and gel-infused memory foam. At full price, they’re about the same, with Cloverlane costing $2199.00 and Saatva costing $2095.00. So it’s more about what type of feel you want in your mattress.
There’s more information about this bed in my Saatva mattress review, so be sure to read it for more information.

At least 10 years. The Cloverlane Hybrid features high-quality materials and sturdy steel coils. With good care, this bed should last at least 10 years, if not more. Even though Cloverlane offers a lifetime warranty on this bed, mattresses should be replaced around the 10 year mark.

You’ll be able to make returns or exchanges during the 365-day trial period. With a full year to test this bed out, you’ll have plenty of time to decide if this is the bed for you. If it’s not, Cloverlane offers free shipping on all returns, so long as you do so within the trial period.
