Mattresses come in all shapes and sizes, and each one has different strengths and drawbacks. When it comes to allergies, here are some of the best beds for keeping them at bay.
- Latex Mattresses: Both Talalay latex and Dunlop latex are naturally breathable, meaning that, as materials, they’re resistant to moisture, and thus mold and mildew. The breathability also keeps you from feeling smothered — a plus if you’re someone whose allergies already make it difficult to breathe at night. Finally, latex is resistant to dust mites, especially the Dunlop variety. It’s denser than Talalay, so there’s not much room for the little buggers to live.
- Memory Foam Mattresses: Although not as breathable as latex, memory foam is considered hypoallergenic. Its density also makes it difficult for dust mites to occupy. But if you have a hard time breathing because of your allergies, you’re probably better off with latex.
- Hybrid Mattresses: A hybrid mattress just means that it contains several different types of materials. It can be a combination of latex, memory foam, coils, or something else entirely.
