Best Loud Alarm Clock – Sonic Bomb

Sonic Alert Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock

Sonic Alert Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock

The Sonic Bomb alarm clock is one of the loudest alarm clocks on the market, making it able to wake even the heaviest of sleepers.

Mattress Clarity Score
4.80 / 5
Pros
Extremely loud
Vibrates
Affordable
Cons
Harsh tones could be jarring
It’s so loud that it could annoy roommates or neighbors

Our Expert’s Take

The Sonic Bomb alarm clock can get so loud, it might even wake your neighbors. Fortunately, you can easily adjust the volume to a level that works for you. Many alarm clocks time out after a few minutes, but the Sonic Bomb can last up to 59 minutes. Adjusting the settings is easy, thanks to the simple and clear direction booklet.

If loud sounds aren’t enough to get you out of bed in the morning, you can also use the vibrate setting. Simply plug in the external disc into the back of the alarm clock and place it near your pillow. When your alarm goes off in the morning, the disk will twitch and shake, making it nearly impossible to sleep through it.

What the testers say: “If you sleep like the dead, the Sonic Bomb alarm clock is for you. The Sonic Bomb is incredibly loud, and you could absolutely hear it down the hall of an apartment complex. If that’s too annoying, though, you can always put it on vibrate mode and have it shake you awake. I, personally, wouldn’t want to start my day in such a chaotic way, but it could be good for people who need help adjusting to a new sleep schedule.” – Elisa, Reviewer

What We Love About the Sonic Bomb

  • It’s affordable. This alarm clock costs less than $50, and if you have Amazon Prime, you can get free shipping.
  • It can get very loud. You may even need to plug your ears when you hear it at max volume. It’s the loudest alarm clock I’ve ever tested.
  • It can shake you awake. The vibrating disk violently vibrates and rattles, making it nearly impossible to sleep through the alarm.

What to Keep In Mind About the Sonic Bomb

  • It has an abrasive sound, which can stress some people out. You may not want to start off your morning with such a harsh beeping sound.
  • The vibrate setting is also very jarring. If you’re not used to it, you may feel startled when you’re shaken awake.

Out of 29,000 Amazon user reviews, the Sonic Bomb alarm clock earned an average score of 4.5/5. Many people said it effectively wakes them up in the morning, even though they are very heavy sleepers. Some people complained that the alarm clock is difficult to use.

Cons
May not be loud enough for some heavy sleepers

Our Expert’s Take

If you’re a heavy sleeper, but you don’t want to feel like you’re waking up to the sound of a car alarm going off in your bedroom, you may want to consider the HeimVision sunrise alarm clock. This product costs about $60 at regular price, and it has many advanced features. For example, you can connect it to your smartphone and easily adjust your wake up times from the app.

Though it’s marketed as a sunrise alarm clock, I don’t recommend the sunrise alarm setting for particularly heavy sleepers. Instead, you may want to choose one of their 20 different wakeup sounds. Many of them are soothing and relaxing, like chirping birds and white noise. Though the sounds aren’t as stark as the Sonic Bomb alarm clock, I found that it was still loud enough to wake me.

What the testers say: “I personally love the sunrise settings, but I know that heavy sleepers will sleep through that. If you opt for the Heimvision clock, it’s probably best to use the sound setting. I love that this clock is easy to set up and adjust, andt’s also relatively affordable. ” – Elisa, Reviewer

What We Love About the Heimvision

  • It’s affordable. This alarm clock costs less than $60, which is significantly less than many other sunrise alarm clocks on the market.
  • It’s easy to set up and use. The alarm clock connects to an app on your phone, so it’s a breeze to change the settings.
  • It has 20 different sound options. You don’t need to wake up to a startling tone if you don’t want to. I personally love the chirping bird setting.

What to Keep In Mind About the Heimvision

  • It may not be jarring enough for some heavy sleepers. Many of the sounds are quite soothing and calm, which could lull some people back to sleep.

Best Moving Alarm Clock – Clocky

Clocky Alarm Clock

Clocky Alarm Clock

The Clocky Alarm clock doesn’t just make sound to wake people up–it also rolls around the room! Hitting snooze just got a lot more difficult.

Pros
Fun and unique
Effective
Affordable
Cons
Can’t control volume
Not very durable

Our Expert’s Take

The Clocky is a cute, quirky alarm clock that takes a different approach to waking you up in the morning. This clock doesn’t simply make a sound for its alarm–-it also rolls around. If you place the Clocky on the edge of a nightstand, it will roll off the surface and force you to get out of bed in order to turn it off.

The Clocky only costs about $38 on Amazon, and it’s not the most durable product on our list. The snooze button doesn’t always work, and you need to provide your own AAA batteries. It also doesn’t allow you to change the volume or pitch. The high-frequency tone could annoy some people, and the volume level may not be loud enough for particularly heavy sleepers. That said, the Clocky is a great option for kids and teens who have trouble getting out of bed in the morning.

What the testers say: “The Clocky is cute and innovative. Best of all–it doesn’t break the bank. I personally don’t love catching the Clocky first thing in the morning, but I can see this being helpful for young kids who need to catch the school bus in the morning. ” – Elisa, Reviewer

What We Love About the Clocky

  • It’s affordable. This alarm clock only costs about $38, but you will need to purchase your own AAA batteries in order for it to work.
  • It’s cute and fun. Many young kids will enjoy its colorful design.
  • It helps you get out of bed in the morning. When you have to catch the Clocky rolling around on your floor, you’re less likely to hit snooze.

What to Keep In Mind About the Clocky

  • It’s not very durable. This affordable clock is made with thin plastic, and if it rolls off a nightstand too many times, it may get damaged.
  • You can’t adjust the volume or pitch. The default sound setting may not be loud enough for many heavy sleepers.

Other User Reviews

The Clocky has over 6,700 customer reviews on Amazon and an average score of 4.1/5. Many people said they love its fun design and cute colors, and parents said it helped their kids get out of bed in the morning. However, many people complained about its lack of customization options. One user said the pitch of the alarm triggered migraine headaches, and another user said the volume wasn’t loud enough.

The clock also comes with many guided meditation sessions and has some white noise settings.

What to Keep In Mind About the Loftie

  • It costs more than most alarm clocks. The Loftie retails for about $150 regular price.
  • The Loftie clock’s sounds may not be stark or jarring enough for particularly heavy sleepers.

Other User Reviews

On Loftie’s website, the clock has an average customer review score of 4.77/5. Many people said it helps them wake up easily and peacefully. While there aren’t many negative reviews posted on the website, I would imagine that particularly heavy sleepers would need an alarm clock that shakes them awake or blares music at a very loud volume.

Best Sunrise Alarm Clock – Hatch

Hatch Restore Alarm Clock

Hatch Restore Alarm Clock

The Hatch Restore alarm clock works in tandem with the Hatch app, a unique resource that not only helps you wake up feeling refreshed — it also helps you create good sleep habits.

Pros

Our Expert’s Take

The Hatch Alarm clock is popular among parents because it helps babies sleep soundly with white noise and soothing lights. However, that’s not the only demographic that will appreciate this beautiful sunrise alarm clock. It’s also quite helpful for heavy sleepers who want to wake up with light rather than vibrations or loud sounds.

The Hatch alarm clock is easy to use, thanks to its well-designed app. You do need to pay a monthly fee in order to use it, though. If you’re okay with the added expense, the Hatch alarm clock is a great way to gently and consistently wake up every morning.

What the testers say: “The Hatch alarm clock doesn’t just look beautiful–it helps me wake up peacefully and consistently. It strikes a good balance; it’s loud and bright enough to wake up heavy sleepers, but it won’t make you feel stressed out first thing in the morning.” – Elisa, Reviewer

What We Love About the Hatch

  • It has a gorgeous design with many sunrise color options, such as “Calm Ocean” and “Morning in Prague.”
  • It can wake up heavy sleepers without the use of stressful sounds or jarring vibrations.
  • The Hatch alarm clock is easy to use because it has an app with an intuitive design.

What to Keep In Mind About the Hatch

  • It costs more than other alarm clocks on this list. The Hatch Restore alarm clock retails at about $130, but in order to use it, you have to subscribe to the Hatch app for $9.99/month.
  • It may not be loud enough for particularly heavy sleepers. If you need to be woken up by extremely loud sounds or heavy vibrations, you may want to consider the Sonic Bomb clock.

Other User Reviews

Over 8,000 people on Amazon reviewed the Hatch Restore alarm clock, and it has an average score of 4.1/5. Most people love the alarm clock, saying the light settings are beautiful and easily wake them up in the morning. Other people complained about the recurring costs, and some people said they had issues connecting the clock to their wifi.

Coolfire – Best Wearable Alarm Clock

Coolfire Alarm Clock

Coolfire Alarm Clock

The Coolfire wearable alarm clock can wake heavy sleepers with gentle vibrations.

Pros
Affordable
Comfortable
Great for couples
Cons
Takes a while to set the time
Vibrations may not be strong enough for some people

Our Expert’s Take

The Coolfire alarm clock looks and feels a lot like a wrist sweatband. It stretches over your hand, and when the alarm goes off, the band vibrates. In my experience, the vibrations were stark enough to wake me up in the morning. Some particularly deep sleepers, however, may need an alarm clock that makes sound and vibrates at the same time–like the Sonic Bomb

Setting the alarm can take some time, but thanks to the Coolfire YouTube tutorial, it’s easy to understand. If you share a bed with a partner who has a different sleep schedule, it’s worth the extra hassle to set this silent alarm. With Coolfire, you can wake up without disrupting your partner’s precious ZZzs.

What the testers say: “It took me a while to set up the Coolfire alarm, but it wasn’t particularly difficult. The strong vibrations immediately woke me up in the morning, and my husband appreciated the fact that he didn’t wake up to my loud alarm.” – Elisa, Reviewer

What We Love About the Coolfire

  • It’s sold at a low price–about $35 on Amazon.
  • It can wake up one person without annoying other people in the room. This can be particularly helpful for couples and college students.
  • The soft and stretchy wristband is soft and comfortable.

What to Keep In Mind About the Coolfire

  • The vibrations may not be strong enough for particularly heavy sleepers. Some people may need to set a second alarm as a backup.
  • It can take a long time to set the alarm, which may deter people from using it.

Other User Reviews

On Amazon, the Coolfire alarm clock has an average customer review score of 3.4/5. Many people said it was great because it easily woke them up, but it didn’t annoy their partner. Some people said the vibrations weren’t strong enough to wake them up in the morning, and other people said they had difficulty getting it to work.

How to Find The Best Alarm Clock For Heavy Sleepers

If you can sleep through thunderstorms, here are a few things to look for in an alarm clock:

Persistence

Many alarm clocks stop making sound after a few minutes. If you’re a heavy sleeper, you’ll need a persistent alarm that lasts long enough to interrupt your sleep. Some, like the Sonic Bomb, can last up to an hour.

Sleep Health Features

Whether you’re trying to fix your sleep schedule or trying to become an early bird, learning more about your sleep health can help. Many alarm clocks, like Hatch and Loftie, offer insight into your sleep hygiene and can help you get the best sleep possible.

Volume

You probably don’t want an alarm clock that’s loud enough to shatter glass, but if you’re a heavy sleeper, you’ll need something that packs a punch. Many alarm clocks, like SonicBomb and HeimVision, get loud enough to wake you from even the deepest of slumbers.

Types of Alarm Clocks For Heavy Sleepers

Sleep tech has gotten quite impressive. Now, the market is full of unique alarm clocks that don’t simply wake you up with a twinkling tone. Let’s take a look at the different types of alarm clocks for heavy sleepers.

Vibrating Alarm Clocks

Vibrating alarm clocks shake people awake. Some, like the Sonic Bomb, have external discs that can fit underneath pillows and sheets. Others, like Coolfire, fit around the wrist and vibrate when it’s time to wake up. Vibrating alarm clocks are particularly helpful for people who share a bedroom with other people or are hearing impaired.

Loud Alarm Clocks

Loud alarm clocks work like traditional clocks, but as you may have guessed, they’re much louder. The Sonic Bomb alarm clock is the loudest option I have tested.

Moving Alarm Clocks

Moving alarm clocks, like the Clocky, roll around the room. This forces sleepers to get out of bed and turn off the alarm. It’s much harder to hit the snooze button when you know you’ll have to jump out of bed to catch the alarm clock.

Sunrise Alarm Clocks

The best sunrise alarm clocks gently wake sleepers with beautiful lights and delicate sounds. I particularly like the Hatch and HeimVision alarm clocks because they have many lovely sunrise settings to choose from, and you can easily customize the options.

Coffee Alarm Clocks

Coffee alarm clocks wake people up with the wonderful smell of a freshly brewed cup of joe. These products range in price, but they tend to cost much more than traditional alarm clocks.
