You might not think a new mattress and a cheese pizza go hand-in-hand. But according to furniture and mattress retailer Raymour & Flanigan, they absolutely do.

The retailer announced Thursday that it has partnered with pizza giant Papa John’s to offer a year of free pizza to customers who purchase a mattress or mattress set of $500 or more from any of their 120 locations, for a limited time.

The promotion runs from May 30 to June 13 and — as others have pointed out — appears to take aim at bed-in-a-box mattress brands such as Casper, Purple, and Tuft & Needle.

“[M]attresses shouldn’t come in a box. Pizzas do,” says a Raymour & Flanigan spokesperson. “A mattress is something you should feel and experience firsthand. Additionally, every person is different, from body shape to body temperature. That’s why we’re focused on pairing each customer with the right mattress.”

The retailer sells many of the nation’s most notable mattress brands, including Tempur-Pedic, Beautyrest, King Koil, Serta, and Sealy. In their release, Raymour & Flanigan says their stores’ sleep consultants receive “extensive training to be able to pair customers with a mattress that will bring them maximum comfort.” They also note that shoppers can “Test Before You Rest™” at Raymour & Flanigan locations.

In addition to free pizza, a mattress purchase from the retailer includes next-day delivery and removal of your old mattress any day of the week at no additional cost, according to the company.

Before you start envisioning endless pizza boxes lining your kitchen, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the specific conditions of the promotion. Customers who purchase a mattress or mattress set during the promotion period are eligible for one free pizza per month and will receive a redemption code each month from July 2018 through June 2019. Additional toppings are extra, and pizzas are only available via online ordering.

What’s in it for Papa John’s? According to AdAge, “For Papa John’s, the deal offers additional exposure in seven Northeast states where Raymour & Flanigan has stores.” AdAge also notes this is the first partnership between the two companies.

While we are all for eating pizza as often as possible, if you decide to take a bite or two on your brand new mattress, we highly recommend considering a mattress protector.
