Disclaimers / Disclosures

We receive free products to review and participate in affiliate programs. See our disclosure page for more information.

This page is here to clear up any confusion about how we create the content of this website and what our relationships are with the manufacturers in the industry.  We believe in transparency, and we want to use this page to be as clear as possible with all aspects of our website.  We are also disclosing this information in accordance with the FTC’s “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising” 16 CFR, Part 255

Receiving Free Products

In most of our reviews, we received the product for free in exchange for review consideration (in some cases, where noted specifically, we may just provide a summary of the findings of customers elsewhere).  Just because we receive a product does not mean we will publish a review. The content of our reviews are based on the real opinions of our writers, who have hundreds of hours of experience testing mattresses and other sleep products.

Affiliate Links

In some cases on our reviews you may find “affiliate links.”  Essentially what that means is that if you click the link and make a purchase, we will receive a commission. These commissions help us maintain our testing and review operations. This comes at no cost to you whatsoever.  It simply means that the origin of the sale is tracked back to our website.  We may also provide a coupon for a product that is used to track the source of a sale, for which we are then compensated.

We may also may link to general e-commerce sites where we receive an affiliate commission, though we have no direct relationship with the company that manufactures the product (e.g/ we link to the particular mattress via Amazon.com and receive a commission, though this is purely a relationship with Amazon, and not a relationship with that mattress company).

Our Philosophy

We created this website with a key goal: to help consumers find the right sleep products for their needs. It’s easy to get confused when trying to decide on a mattress. Liking a certain mattress is a personal choice that depends on many different factors — there is no one “best” mattress for everyone.  There is a lot of marketing hype in the industry that can lead a lot of people away from making a good choice.

With that in mind, we want to provide information that simplifies the process for you.  We break down the key parts of each mattress, and whom the mattress might be good for.  Opinions on the site are our own and should be treated as opinions, not final verdicts.

Generally, we try to avoid making statements like, “this is the best mattress,” though you will see ratings for products, sometimes broken down by category (e.g. best innerspring mattresses).  These are subjective scores and rankings, which reflect our own opinions and personal biases.  That is because finding the “best” mattress depends on many different factors, like weight, sleeping position, and personal preferences.  We suggest you use the information on the site as a starting point for your own mattress selection journey.
