Brooklyn Bedding Brushed Microfiber Sheets Overview

Just like its mattresses, Brooklyn Bedding sheets are affordable! And the most affordable set Brooklyn Bedding has are the Brushed Microfiber bed sheets. Here’s a quick overview of these sheets before we get into the nitty gritty:

Who Might Like the Brushed Microfiber Sheets?

  • Budget minded shoppers
  • Hot sleepers
  • People looking for color options

Who Might Not Like the Brushed Microfiber Sheets?

  • Fans of crisp, cotton sheets
  • Anyone looking for organic materials in their sheets
  • People who get cold quickly

What Do the Brooklyn Bedding Brushed Microfiber Sheets Feel Like?

The Brushed Microfiber sheet set feels very smooth and velvety. As the name suggests, the microfibers have been double brushed to achieve this texture. They feel much softer than cotton sheets, which tend to feel much crisper. Check out our article on the differences between microfiber vs cotton sheets to learn more.

Brooklyn Bedding Brushed Microfiber Sheets Materials

The Brooklyn Bedding Brushed Microfiber bed sheet set is made of polyester. This microfiber has been designed to be wrinkle resistant and resist pilling.

These threads have been brushed to give them a very soft, velvety feel. They have a tightly woven construction, but the polyester still has a good amount of breathability to it. It also has some moisture-wicking properties to it to help you sleep cool at night.

What to Consider Before Buying

There are a lot of things to consider before buying a set of sheets. Here are a few key categories I used when I tested these sheets.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

These sheets should be a great option for hot sleepers like myself. When I first used these sheets, it was on a chilly night, and after some time under just the top sheet, I was reaching for an extra layer. But on warmer nights, these felt fantastic. Overheating wasn’t going to be a problem for me.

This is great news for hot sleepers because you’ll stay at a comfortable temperature during the night and should be good for year-round use.

However, if you tend to get cold quickly, this could pose problems. Reach for a weighted blanket or a comforter if you like to layer up and stay warm!

Care Instructions

Caring for your sheets couldn’t be easier. There aren’t any specific accommodations for microfibers, so these are fully machine washable!

Brooklyn Bedding does suggest washing in either cold or warm water with the detergent of your choice.

Then you can tumble dry on low. If you have the capacity, you could also line dry these sheets.

Allergies

These sheets are not marketed as a hypoallergenic set of bed sheets. Microfibers are a synthetic material, so if you have sensitive skin or allergies, you may want to find something specific to fight allergens or not irritate your skin.

Company Policies

It’s important to know the fine print before checking out! Here’s what you can expect when you purchase these sheets.

Set Includes

For this review, I received the queen-sized set. This set included:

  • A flat sheet
  • A fitted sheet
  • Two standard-sized pillowcases.

This set starts at a twin XL and goes up to split king. The twin XL set comes with one pillowcase, while the king, California king, and split king sets come with two king-sized pillowcases.

The fitted sheet can fit mattresses anywhere from 11” to 14” tall.

Return Policy

When you purchase your sheets, you have 30 days to decide if you want to keep or return them. This acts as a trial period.

If you decide they aren’t for you, you can return them for a full refund, so long as you do within that 30 day window.

If you decide to keep your microfiber sheets, Brooklyn Bedding offers a 1-year warranty.

Common Brushed Microfiber Sheets Complaints

In most of the customer reviews I’ve seen, many seem to have problems with the sheet’s durability. Despite being designed to resist pilling, many people have stated after a few washes, the sheets start to pill.

These sheets are marketed to be breathable and moisture-wicking. However, some other common complaints have to do with people waking up hot and sweaty. Polyester doesn’t have the same qualities as cotton or bamboo, so if you’re prone to overheating, this is something to take into consideration.

How Do the Brooklyn Bedding Brushed Microfiber Sheets Compare To Other Sheets?

Microfiber sheets are very different from other popular sheet materials. Let’s compare the brushed microfiber sheets to some sheets made of other materials.

Brooklyn Bedding vs Tuft & Needle

If you’re a fan of that crisp, cotton feel, then the Tuft & Needle percale sheets are an affordable option on the market to compare to the Brooklyn Bedding sheets.

These two sets of sheets will have very different feels to them. The brushed microfiber sheets feel much softer and not like that fresh, pressed shirt feel that cotton sheets tend to have. However, if that’s what you prefer, then the Tuft & Needle sheets are the way to go.

Tuft & Needle Sheets Overview

Both options should be good for hot sleepers. Cotton is very breathable, and the percale weave has room for air to flow through. However, with its ability to wick moisture, the Brooklyn Bedding sheets will keep you from feeling sweaty while you sleep.

If you’re looking for a fitted sheet to stay on your bed, the Tuft & Needle can fit mattresses up to 16” tall, while the max for the Brooklyn Bedding is 14”. Finally, both are relatively affordable, but Brooklyn Bedding’s price tag is much lower.

Who Should Get Brooklyn Bedding Brushed Microfiber Sheets?

  • Fans of soft, velvety feeling sheets
  • Budget minded shoppers

Brooklyn Bedding vs Puffy

One other popular material for sheets is bamboo. Some of our favorite bamboo sheets are the Puffy bamboo sheets.

Made from 100% bamboo viscose, these sheets feel similar to the Brooklyn Bedding sheets, making both a good option for people who prefer softer, silkier feeling sheets.

Puffy Bamboo Sheets

Both sheets should also be fairly good for hot sleepers. They both have the ability to wick moisture away, and bamboo is known for its breathability as well. But bamboo is also a natural material, so these sheets are a good hypoallergenic pick as well.

The Puffy sheets also have deep pockets with sturdy elastic that can help keep the fitted sheet in place. But, if you’re a fan of color options in your sheets, go with the Brooklyn Bedding.

And finally, Brooklyn Bedding’s sheets are cheaper than the Puffy sheets.

FAQs

Want to know more about these sheets? I’ve gathered a few frequently asked questions below.

What are brushed microfiber sheets?

Brushed microfiber sheets are made by scraping a metal brush over the polyester during the manufacturing process. This gives the sheets a very soft, velvety texture.

What if I don’t like my Brooklyn Bedding Brushed Microfiber sheets?

Don’t stress! You have a 30 day window to test out the sheets. If they aren’t a match, you can send them back for a full refund or exchange.

What should I consider when buying microfiber sheets?

First and foremost, microfibers are a synthetic material. Because these fibers can be made much thinner than cotton or bamboo, thread count doesn’t apply to microfiber sheets. Instead they’ll be measured with something called grams per square meter (GSM).

High-quality microfiber sheets will also be brushed or double brushed making them much softer to the touch. The Brooklyn Bedding sheets have been brushed, making them a high-quality set of sheets!
