Brooklinen Sheets Video Review
Brooklinen sells several different types of sheets. In our video review, we’ll go over the pros and cons of each set!
What Does the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set Feel Like?
The Brooklinen Classic set is made with a percale weave. This is one of two weave styles used to construct sheets, and this weave makes sheets feel crisp and leaves them with a matte finish.
RELATED: Percale vs Sateen Sheets
The best way to describe the Classic Core set is that it feels like a fresh pressed button up shirt.
Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set Materials
The Classic Core sheet set is made of 100%, high-quality long-staple cotton that has been OEKO-Tex certified. This certification means that the cotton is sourced and grown in a responsible manner, and avoids the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides.
The long-staple cotton means that the cotton fibers are much longer and won’t break as easily, making this a fairly durable set of sheets, too!
These sheets feature a 270 thread count, which is a lower thread count. However, thread count isn’t always an indicator of quality. It mainly influences the breathability and softness of sheets. So, with a lower thread count, these sheets are very breathable, but they may not feel as smooth as a sateen set.

Let’s talk about some key considerations to keep in mind when looking into the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet set.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
This set of sheets sleeps relatively cool! The combination of the weave style, lower thread count, and cotton’s natural breathability make these a win for hot sleepers.
The percale weave will allow air to flow through fairly easily in these sheets. Percale sheets are a good option if you sleep hot, because sateen sheets can sometimes retain heat more. However, if you get cold more easily, the Brooklinen Luxe Core set will be a better option for you!
Sheets with lower thread counts also tend to let air flow through, and with cotton’s natural breathability, I felt really comfortable under these sheets all night long.

Care Instructions
The Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet set is machine-washable. Here’s what Brooklinen recommends when you wash them:
Wash in a cold water cycle with like colors and a detergent of choice. From there you can tumble dry on low. Percale sheets do have a tendency to wrinkle more, so Brooklinen mentions you can warm iron if needed, as well.
Allergies
While the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet set isn’t listed as a hypoallergenic product, cotton is a hypoallergenic material. These bed sheets shouldn’t trigger any allergies.
Company Policies
So, what do you need to know before clicking “check out?” Let’s find out.
Set Includes
For this review, I received the queen-size Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet set bundle.
This included:
- A fitted sheet
- A top/flat sheet
- Two standard-sized pillowcases
Brooklinen sells this set in all bed sizes, twin to California king, and has a variety of standard and limited edition color and design choices to choose from. The fitted sheet also includes “long” and “short” labels to take the guesswork out of dressing your bed.
This set comes in “core” and “hardcore” bundle sets. The difference here is that the hardcore set comes with everything mentioned above, plus two additional pillowcases and a duvet cover.

All Brooklinen sheets come with a lengthy 365-day trial for its sheets. This gives you plenty of time to decide if these are the sheets for you!
During this time, you can make exchanges and returns, and Brooklinen will cover shipping costs. If you decide to return, you’ll get a full refund.
But if you love your sheets and keep them, you’ll get a one-year warranty!
Common Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set Complaints
While looking through a few reviews online, one thing I noticed about the Classic Core set is that many complained they were too stiff. One thing to note about cotton percale sheets is that they have a crisp feel to them. This could feel stiff to some. If this texture doesn’t sound like it appeals to you, opt for a set of sheets that are made of bamboo or the sateen weave. These will feel much softer and more satin-like.
How Does the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set Compare to Other Sheets?
If you’re not sure if the Brooklinen Classic Core set is for you, don’t stress. I’m going to compare this set of sheets to two other popular sets out there!
Brooklinen vs Parachute
Both the Brooklinen Classic Core set and the Parachute Percale sheets feature the percale weave. But there are a few differences between these two popular options.
To start, both are made from cotton, but Parachute uses Egyptian cotton in its sheets. The defining characteristic between the cotton used for these sheets is that Egyptian cotton is a more luxurious option, as it feels much softer and is more durable than traditional cotton. So, while both sheets feel rather crisp because of the weave, Parachute’s will feel softer on your skin.
Both have a good color variety to choose from if you’re looking for something other than just white. The fitted sheets have a few differences as well. Brooklinen’s fitted sheets have “long” and “short” side labels to help you put the fitted sheet on the correct way. But Parachute’s sheets have some deeper pockets and can fit mattresses up to 16” tall. While Brooklinen can fit 15”, that added inch can make a difference on taller beds.
Finally, looking at the budget, Brooklinen has a kinder price tag to your wallet.
Who Should Get the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set?
- Sheet shoppers with a budget in mind
- Anyone wanting help putting the fitted sheet on
Who Should Get the Parachute Percale Sheets?
- Fans of softer, Egyptian cotton sheets
- Anyone looking for deep pockets in the fitted sheet

Brooklinen vs Birch
Another set of cotton sheets worth mentioning come from Birch. The company makes eco-friendly sheets to go along with its eco-friendly mattresses.
The main difference between these two sets of sheets is the weave style. Brooklinen uses the percale weave, which makes them feel crisp. Birch uses the sateen weave, which leaves the sheets feeling buttery soft and smooth. Both should be fairly good for hot sleepers, though Brooklinen’s sheets are a bit more lightweight.
Birch acquired a Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification for its sheets, which is the gold standard for organic products. It means the cotton has been grown and sourced responsibly and sustainably, while avoiding harmful chemicals and toxins.
Brooklinen’s Classic Core set does feature an OEKO-Tex certification, which means the cotton was also grown without harmful chemicals and pesticides. But they are not certified organic like the Birch sheets.
Who Should Get the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set?
- Fans of crisp cotton sheets
- Anyone looking for a wide variety of color
Who Should Get the Birch Organic Sheets?
- Fans of smooth, sateen style cotton sheets
- Anyone looking for organic and eco-friendly bedding

FAQs
Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet set.
Are Brooklinen sheets scratchy?
In my experience, having tested out all three sheet sets, no! The linen sheets have some texture to them, and the Classic percale sheets do feel very crisp. However, all sets felt very comfortable against my skin while I slept.
Are Brooklinen sheets durable?
Yes! While sateen sheets are prone to pilling, the Luxe Core set should be very durable. That set and the Classic Core set are made with long-staple cotton, which is very durable.
Linens are designed to last a long time, as well. All three sheet sets should last you at least two years, if not more, with good care.
Do Brooklinen sheets keep you cool?
The percale weave used for the Classic Core set is a great weave for hot sleepers. It will allow air to flow through very easily. The Linen set is also breathable and moisture-wicking, so you shouldn’t sleep hot under either of these sets.
