Zamat Butterfly Button Shaped Cervical Pillow
The Zamat Butterfly Button Shaped Cervical Pillow has a unique design. It cradles your head and follows the curvature of your neck and spine for a proper alignment while you sleep.
Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow Overview
ZamatSleep is a pillow brand that’s dedicated to promoting better spinal alignment for sleepers. All Zamat Pillows are cervical pillows, meaning they have a special ergonomic design — something I’ll discuss more later on in this review.
Overall Rating
I’ve reviewed the NekGenic, Zamat’s therapy pillow for dealing with neck pain. But it isn’t intended for a full night of sleep. That’s why this review focuses on the Zamat Butterfly Button Shaped Cervical pillow, which is made to support sleepers all night long.
Here’s a quick overview:

Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow Firmness and Feel
When it comes to relieving neck pain, having a pillow that has the right firmness and feel is crucial. Let’s talk about these two important factors for the Zamat Cervical Butterfly pillow.
How Firm is the Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow?
Firmness is quite a subjective category, especially for pillows. In my experience, I found the Butterfly Cervical pillow to be around medium-firm, if not a little on the soft side of medium. I think most sleepers will find this pillow to be a medium-firm option.
Sleeping on Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow
Before I get into how I experienced the Butterfly Cervical pillow for my testing process, I should explain what a cervical pillow is first. There’s an area of your spine called the “cervical spine,” and this area is at the very top of your spine, connecting your skull and neck to your upper back.
This area has a natural curvature to it, and cervical pillows are designed to work with that curve. They help by elongating your neck to relieve pressure and pain, making them good options for people with neck pain.
Now, when you first look at the Butterfly Cervical pillow, you might be confused on where to rest your head. In the middle of this pillow, there’s a center cavity, which is where your head goes. On the sides, there are two “butterfly wing” cutouts, hence the name. These act as armrests for side sleepers. In the middle of one of the long sides, there’s a natural curve, which is where you rest your neck.

When it came to testing this pillow, I have to say I was impressed. I started out on my back and found it to be the best way to use this pillow. I felt my neck stretch as my head settled in the cavity. I even felt my airways open up more.
Moving on to my side, I felt very comfortable as well. I’m a natural side sleeper, and this pillow does a good job of offering neck support. My head dipped down into the center cavity, but only just. Side sleepers won’t have to worry about developing neck pain here.
30-60 Min Nap
While I really loved this pillow for back sleeping, I just can’t seem to fall asleep until I turn to my side. And the night before testing this pillow, I hadn’t gotten the best sleep. Within minutes of shifting to my side, I felt myself drift off easily.
This nap ended up more on the longer side, and I stayed on one side for the most part. This pillow did a really nice job of keeping my head and neck supported. And because of the center cavity, side sleepers shouldn’t have to worry about their head craning upward. But the cavity is tall enough that my head didn’t dip too far down to feel unnatural.
What does the Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow Feel Like?
Though this pillow is made out of a single piece of memory foam, it feels very responsive. It’s soft enough to provide excellent cushioning, but the shape holds up and provides some good support. Being responsive, this pillow makes it easy for combination sleepers to change positions during the night.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Average weight back and side sleepers will find optimal comfort and support using the Zamat Butterfly Cervical pillow. It has a good loft for side sleepers to support the neck and keep the head elevated. Back sleepers will feel their necks elongate and their airways open for comfortable sleep.
This pillow has a very unique shape to it that just won’t be comfortable for stomach sleepers of any kind. Be sure to check out our list of the best pillows for stomach sleepers for our top picks!
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
Heavyweight back sleepers should enjoy ample comfort and a good amount of support. The center cavity cradles your head while the tall, long side supports your neck. And it’s these same features that make it ideal for side sleeping, too. However, I would say if you have broad shoulders, the 5” loft might not be tall enough, so be sure to check out our list of the best pillows for side sleepers for taller options.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb
Lightweight back sleepers should find comfort and pain relief while they sleep on this pillow. If you’re unable to compress your pillows enough, you may find your chin jutting into your chest, which can restrict your airway and cause neck pain. But the Butterfly Cervical pillow will stretch out your neck and keep your airways open.
Some lightweight side sleepers may find comfort with this pillow, but if you have narrow shoulders, 5” might be too tall for you.
Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow Construction
Let’s take a look at the high-quality materials that go into the Zamat Butterfly Cervical pillow.
Cover
The outer cover is removable and made from a blend of bamboo fibers and reflective silk. This material has a very soft feel and promotes airflow. Bamboo is a great material for hot sleepers because it is breathable and moisture-wicking, so you won’t feel hot and sweaty on this pillow.
Core
The inner core of the Butterfly Cervical pillow is made out of a single piece of memory foam that has been CertiPUR-US® certified. This means that the foam is made without the presence of harmful chemicals.
Height/Loft
Loft refers to the height of a pillow. This pillow is 5” tall, which will make it a good fit for both back and side sleepers. Because the pillow has a divot in the middle, back sleepers shouldn’t have a problem with their chin jutting into their chests. Side sleepers need pillows at least 5” tall to keep their heads elevated.
This pillow is not the best choice for stomach sleepers because of its loft.

Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow Performance
Now that we know how the Zamat Butterfly Cervical pillow feels, its firmness, and the materials used, let’s cover some other important considerations.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Memory foam pillows are notorious for trapping heat. However, the Zamat Butterfly Cervical pillow has a breathable construction and uses airflow-promoting materials to help combat overheating.
The cover is made of breathable and moisture-wicking bamboo and the foam core has a hole right in the center to allow for airflow. When I tested this pillow, I never felt like I was in danger of overheating, and I have a tendency to sleep hot.
So, if you’re like me, this pillow should be a good option to stay cool and fight night sweats.

Off-Gassing
The Butterfly Cervical pillow is compressed into a box. While the pillow expanded fairly quickly, you may notice a slight chemical smell to it. This is just a result of the compression process and it should dissipate after about 24 hours. Let it off-gas in a well ventilated area before first use.
Care Instructions
The outer cover is removable and can be machine-washed. Zamat doesn’t offer any specific instructions for care, just that it is washable. But general care instructions for bamboo covers include machine-washing on a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent.
From there, tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly.
Allergies
The Zamat Butterfly Cervical pillow is not listed as a hypoallergenic product. However, I don’t imagine this pillow being an issue for those with sensitive allergies. Memory foam is not known to trap allergens and the cover is washable, which will help keep it allergen-free.
Company Policies
Here’s what you can expect when you make a purchase with Zamat.
Warranty Info
Zamat offers a 10-year warranty on the Butterfly Cervical pillow. This is a very impressive warranty! It’s recommended to change out your pillows every two years, so though you may not need this pillow for 10 years, your pillow will be covered for as long as you have it.
Sleep Trial
The Butterfly Cervical pillow comes with a 100-night sleep trial. This gives you just over three months to test out the pillow to decide if it’s right for you.
Return Policy
If you don’t like your Zamat Butterfly Cervical pillow, you can return it for a full refund, so long as you do it within the 100-night trial period. Zamat mentions that you should try out the pillow for at least 30 days before issuing a return.
To be eligible for a return, the pillow must be clean, undamaged, and sent off in its original packaging. Zamat covers shipping costs on orders over $35, but customers are responsible for the shipping costs for returns.
How Does the Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow Compare to Other Pillows?
Cervical pillows aren’t for everyone, and some people might not have heard of them before. Let’s compare the Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow to two more standard options, the TEMPUR-Neck and the Saatva Latex pillow.
Zamat vs TEMPUR-Pedic
Neck pillows are everywhere, but with TEMPUR-Pedic’s name recognition, the TEMPUR Neck is one of the most prominent. The big difference between this and the Zamat Butterfly Cervical pillow is the shape.
The TEMPUR-Neck is considered a contour pillow, though this ergonomic design serves the same purpose as the Butterfly Cervical pillow: to offer neck support while you sleep.
Both are memory foam pillows but they have different feels to them. The Neck features TEMPUR’s classic, slow-moving TEMPUR material, while the Zamat Butterfly has a more responsive foam feel. The foam and construction of the Butterfly is a better option for hot sleepers as well, thanks to a hole in the middle of the pillow and a breathable outer cover.
Who Should Get the Zamat Butterfly Cervical Pillow? | Who Should Get the TEMPUR-Neck Pillow? |
Hot sleepers | Fans of of a responsive memory foam feel |
Fans of a slow-moving memory foam feel | People who prefer a contour pillow shape |

Zamat vs Saatva
For people who want a more traditional pillow to help out with neck pain, one of our favorites is the Saatva Latex pillow. This pillow features a pillow-within-a-pillow design, with two outer layers of down alternative that surround a shredded latex core.
The Saatva pillow is very plush and soft, but the latex core keeps your head supported while you sleep. The Butterfly Cervical pillow is specifically designed to support your cervical spine, and help with neck pain.
Finally, if you’re shopping for a pillow to help with neck pain relief, the Zamat Butterfly Cervical pillow is a more budget-friendly option.

People looking for a pillow to help specifically with neck pain | Shoppers on a budget |

FAQs
Still have questions about cervical pillows or Zamat? I’ve collected some frequently asked questions below.

Given the unique, butterfly shape to this pillow, it can be confusing to see where you need to rest your head and neck. In the center of this pillow, there’s a center cavity that is where your head goes. On the sides, there are two butterfly wing cut outs that act as armrests.
You’ll place your head and neck along the side where the wings extend the full length of one of the long sides. Zamat also included a graphic on their website fully mapping out the pillow and how you should use it.
