Cozy Earth Silk Pillow Firmness and Feel
Some people don’t want to buy a new pillow only to end up returning it during the trial period if they don’t like the firmness. Let’s talk about these two important considerations for the Cozy Earth Silk pillow.
How Firm is the Cozy Earth Silk Pillow?
I’d classify the Cozy Earth Silk pillow as a medium-firm pillow. The silk fiber bundles inside of the pillow give it a good amount of support, and feel much denser and more compact than your traditional down or down alternative fills.
Sleeping on the Cozy Earth Silk Pillow
The Cozy Earth Silk pillow is ready to use right out of the box. So, with no need to wait for it to expand, I immediately jumped into testing.
Starting out on my side, this pillow did feel comfortable for me. Though it has a very dense, but soft, inner fill, it’s not the tallest pillow out there. And while I have about average width shoulders, I did feel a bit of a dip while testing this pillow—not my favorite for side sleeping.
Moving on to my back, this pillow was much more comfortable compared to my side. Because this pillow doesn’t easily compress, it kept my head in a neutral position. This is an excellent choice for back sleepers.
Unfortunately, the silk fibers don’t compress easily, so when I moved over to my stomach, I felt my head and neck craning upwards. If I were to use this pillow constantly while stomach sleeping, neck pain would definitely be right around the corner.
30-60 Min Nap
I enjoyed this pillow the most while sleeping on my back, so I decided to start there for my nap. However, I’m not the type of sleeper that stays put while I sleep, so I found myself on my side when my nap was over.
Overall, this pillow offers a great amount of support for back sleeping, and with the right amount of fluffing, can work well for side sleepers with larger frames like myself. It’s still not my favorite pillow for side sleeping, but it’ll do the job for a quick nap. And it was very easy to move around on.
As a textbook hot sleeper, this pillow did a really good job at staying cool while I slept. The bamboo cover kept cool to the touch, and it never felt like the silk fill was going to trap my body heat.
What does the Cozy Earth Silk Pillow Feel Like?
Though it has a medium-firm firmness, this pillow still feels very plush and luxuriously soft thanks to the bamboo outer cover. You may need to fluff it every now and then, like all pillows need to be, but it retains its shape very well.
It’s also not so easily compressed like memory foam, down, or down alternative pillows. This means that this pillow will offer a decent amount of support.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Average weight back and side sleepers should get enough comfort and support on the Cozy Earth Silk pillow. The silk fill is dense and not easily compressed, so it offers a good amount of support, while still maintaining a plush feel.
Stomach sleepers, however, won’t be able to compress the fill, and should instead opt for one of the best pillows for stomach sleepers.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
Heavyweight side sleepers with wide shoulders might not be able to find a neutral alignment for their head and neck while using the Cozy Earth Silk pillow. However, heavier back sleepers should enjoy a good amount of comfort and support. I don’t think heavy stomach sleepers will be able to compress this pillow enough to find a comfortable alignment.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb
Similarly to average weight sleepers, lightweight back and side sleepers should enjoy the Cozy Earth Silk pillow. Those that have a narrow frame might find the pillow too tall for side sleeping, however. I would not recommend this pillow to lightweight side sleepers. It is too dense and will not compress enough to be comfortable enough to sleep on.
Cozy Earth Silk Pillow Construction
Let’s take a look at the luxurious materials that make up the Cozy Earth Silk pillow.
Cover
On the outside, you’ll find one of the softest outer covers on a pillow. Cozy Earth uses 100% viscose which is made from bamboo fabric.
This gives the pillowcase a very soft, silky feel and is very breathable, moisture-wicking, and hypoallergenic.
Core
Within the bamboo cover you’ll find 100%, long-strand mulberry silk fibers. This gives the pillow a very plush feel. Unlike down or down alternatives, however, it has a good amount of support and won’t compress as much.
Cozy Earth also states that this fill shouldn’t shift around and its warranty even covers shifting.
Height/Loft
Though Cozy Earth doesn’t provide an exact height, the silk pillow is roughly 5” to 6” tall. This is a very tall, supportive pillow that works well for side sleepers and some back sleepers.
It is not an adjustable pillow, and because the inside is made of silk fibers, it doesn’t compress much.

Cozy Earth Silk Pillow Performance
Now that we know how it performs for different sleepers, let’s discuss a few more key considerations before clicking “check out.”
Sleeping Hot or Cold
The Cozy Earth Silk pillow has been optimized to be temperature regulating and won’t trap heat.
The silk fibers allow for airflow, and the bamboo pillow case is very breathable and has a moisture-wicking property to it that will keep night sweats away.
When I rested on this pillow, I didn’t notice it trap heat, and the cover even felt cool to the touch. Overheating is a non-issue here.
Off-Gassing
The Cozy Earth Silk pillow is not compressed into a box. When you take it out of its packaging, it is fluffed and ready to use. You also won’t have to worry about an off-gassing smell.
Care Instructions
Cozy Earth recommends that you spot clean the silk pillow. If it’s too dirty for spot cleaning, you can put it on a rinse cycle, but don’t spin.
From there, you can either use a dryer on a delicate or low heat setting or let it air dry.
Allergies
Because this pillow features a bamboo cover, which is naturally hypoallergenic, the Cozy Earth pillow is a good choice for people with sensitive allergies.
Company Policies
Here’s what Cozy Earth offers when you make a purchase.
Warranty Info
Cozy Earth offers a 10-year warranty on the silk pillow. While you may not need a pillow for 10 years, both bamboo and silk are very durable materials that should last you at least half that warranty.

Common Cozy Earth Silk Pillow Complaints
While the silk pillow has plenty of 5-star reviews, there were a few customers who wanted to love this pillow, but ultimately had to find comfort elsewhere. Here’s what I found after looking through customer reviews.
The most common complaint I noticed about this pillow was that people were surprised at how firm it was. Most were used to much softer, more compressible down or down alternative pillows.
Personally, this pillow felt closer to a medium-firm. But because firmness is more subjective based on your body type, those who want to sink into their pillow might need to consider a softer pillow.
How Does Cozy Earth Silk Pillow Compare To Other Pillows?
The Cozy Earth Silk pillow is quite a splurge. So if you’re not ready to invest just yet, let’s take a look at some other pillows from Nolah and Saatva that are made of different materials.
Cozy Earth vs Nolah
For those that are big fans of memory foam not just in their beds, the Nolah Squishy is a good choice to look into. Inside you’ll find chopped memory foam pieces that can be taken out to adjust the loft and firmness of the pillow, making it work for just about anyone.
However, finding that optimal loft and firmness can take a lot of trial and error, so if you want to skip the fuss, choose the Cozy Earth Silk pillow. The silk pillow has a more dense feel, so you won’t sink into it like the memory foam in the Squishy pillow.
Finally, if you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck, Nolah offers the Squishy in a double pack. But for those looking to splurge on a luxury product, the Cozy Earth pillow is for you.

Cozy Earth vs Saatva
These days pillows come with a mix of materials to provide the optimal amount of comfort and support. Saatva uses a “pillow-within-a-pillow” design for its latex pillow. There are two outer chambers that feature plush down alternative that surround a supportive shredded latex core.
This is a great choice for people who want a soft, plush pillow. But if you prefer something a bit more supportive and closer to a medium-firm feel, opt for the Cozy Earth pillow.
Finally, with the Saatva pillow, you do have the option to remove that latex core, which makes the pillow very flat for stomach sleeping. You can’t adjust the Cozy Earth pillow, and will work better for side sleepers looking for a tall pillow.

FAQs
Still have questions that need answers? I’ve taken some time to answer some frequently asked questions about the Cozy Earth Silk pillow and more.
Is mulberry silk real silk?
Mulberry silk comes from silkworms who eat leaves from mulberry trees. This type of silk is, in fact, real silk and is one of the softest, most durable types of silk on the market.
While it’s popular to see silk be used in pillowcases these days, Cozy Earth uses this type of silk on the inside of its pillow.
What if I don’t like my Cozy Earth Silk pillow?
Don’t stress! You have a 100-day trial period to test out the Cozy Earth pillow. With such a long trial period, I recommend trying it out for at least 30 days before opting for a return or exchange if it doesn’t work out.
How long will the Cozy Earth Silk pillow last?
Cozy Earth offers an impressive 10-year warranty on this pillow. Both the bamboo fabric shell and mulberry silk are incredibly durable materials. While you don’t need to keep a pillow for 10 years, this pillow should certainly last you around half the time of the warranty.
