Coop Sleep Goods Body Pillow Firmness and Feel

Coop Sleep Goods designed its Original Body pillow with side sleepers in mind. But, with an adjustable foam-and-microfiber filling, this pillow could be a good fit for sleepers of all three sleeping positions. Let’s take a closer look:

Coop Home Goods Body Pillow Feel

How Firm is the Coop Sleep Goods Body Pillow?

Coop Sleep Goods characterizes its proprietary memory-foam-and-microfiber fill as medium firm. However, the Body pillow comes with a zippable cover that allows people to add/remove the filling to their desired firmness and support level. This adjustability means the firmness of the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow can be customized to your personal comfort.

Sleeping on the Coop Sleep Goods Body Pillow

A body pillow’s ultimate goal is to keep your spine in neutral alignment. If your spine slips out of alignment while you sleep, you could experience lower quality sleep and wake up with neck or back pain. Body pillows are designed to promote alignment and provide pressure relief along the whole body, particularly for side sleepers.

With its adjustable loft and extra wide design, the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow does just that. When full of foam, the Original Body pillow is a great choice for side sleepers. Hugging the body pillow through the night will keep the hips and spine aligned for maximum comfort.

Coop Home Goods Body Pillow Care Card

As a primary back and side sleeper, I loved this body pillow because of the supportive feel on my side and my back. People can also fold the pillow in half and use it between their knees (they’ll probably need to take out some of the filling) or behind their back while they’re in bed relaxing.

Coop Sleep Goods also notes that the Original Body pillow could be a good option for pregnant sleepers. The adjustable loft means the Body pillow can be molded as needed to best support pregnant side sleepers over time.

What Does the Coop Sleep Goods Body Pillow Feel Like?

The cross-cut memory-foam-and-fiber filling of the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow provides a good balance of comfort and support. When snuggling with the Body pillow, your arms, legs, and head should settle naturally and comfortably into the foam. This is a good choice for fans of memory foam looking for a supportive body pillow.

Despite being a more medium-firm pillow, the foam that goes into the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow is super soft and squishy. The foam has that classic slow-moving foam feel to it. This is a great option if you’re not wanting to use something super firm during the night.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb

If you’re an average weight side sleeper, you’ll love the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow. The adjustable filling can be added or removed to find the perfect loft for you, and its extra width makes it great for hugging and snuggling throughout the night.

With enough foam removed, average weight stomach and back sleepers should also enjoy the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow. This is a very versatile body pillow!

Coop Home Goods Body Pillow Side Sleeping

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb

This pillow is slightly longer and wider than the average body pillow, meaning the pillow can easily support folks with larger frames. Heavier sleepers may need to keep more foam filling in the pillow to achieve the proper level of support, but when adjusted correctly, this pillow should work for heavyweight sleepers of all three sleeping positions.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb

With enough foam removed, the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow is also a good choice for lightweight sleepers. A low enough loft will allow the Original Body pillow to properly support lightweight side sleepers along their whole body.

Keep in mind that lightweight stomach and back sleepers will have to remove even more foam to reach a comfortable loft. If you’re worried about dealing with lots of extra, potentially messy shredded foam, this might not be the best body pillow for you.

Coop Sleep Goods Body Pillow Construction

Wondering how the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow achieves that balance of comfort and support? Let’s take a closer look at this pillow’s construction:

Cover

The Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow comes with a breathable and removable Lulltra® fabric cover. Made from 60% polyester and 40% bamboo-derived viscose rayon, the cover is extra soft and perfect for hugging and snuggling.

The cover is woven with Coop Sleep Goods’ signature jacquard texture. If you don’t prefer to sleep directly on a textured pillow, try using a pillowcase.

Core

Coop Home Goods Body Pillow Filling

Inside the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow is a blend of shredded memory foam and microfiber fill. This fill is accessible via the pillow’s interlocking dual-case design and can be added or removed per the sleeper’s personal preference. If you’re a fan of shredded memory foam pillows, this is an excellent choice for you!

Height/Loft

The term “loft” refers to the height of a pillow. The Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow stands out from other body pillows because it has an adjustable loft. Just add or remove fill to get the height and support you need.

Coop Sleep Goods Body Pillow Performance

Got more questions about the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow? Here’s how this versatile memory foam body pillow performs in a few more key categories:

Coop Home Goods Body Pillow as Reading Pillow

Sleeping Hot or Cold

While the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow isn’t specifically a cooling pillow, hot sleepers shouldn’t have a problem with this pillow. The Body pillow comes with a cover made from bamboo viscose rayon, which is a naturally cool and breathable material. The memory foam fill also comes shredded for increased breathability. Overall, this pillow shouldn’t sleep too hot.

Off-Gassing

Because this pillow comes compressed, it will give off a light chemical, “new-bed” scent when it arrives, called off-gassing. Allowing the pillow to air out for about 24 hours will let the foam return to its intended size and cause the smell to dissipate.

Because the body pillow has quite a bit of fill in it, this took about 10 minutes to fully expand right out of the packaging. So, it wouldn’t be quite ready if you were to unpackage it right before bed.

Care Instructions

While the bamboo cover can be removed for cleaning, the Body pillow itself is too large to successfully fit into a standard-sized washer and dryer. Coop Sleep Goods recommends purchasing its machine-washable pillow protector or using a commercial washer and dryer to clean the Original Body pillow.

Personally, I would not recommend machine-washing or drying the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow. Even in a commercial dryer, the foam will take a very long time to fully dry, which could be both time-consuming and expensive. I recommend using a pillowcase or spot-cleaning the pillow.

Allergies

The Original Body pillow’s Lulltra® fabric cover made with bamboo, a naturally hypoallergenic material. This pillow shouldn’t aggravate allergies or asthma–no itching or sneezing with this pillow.

Common Coop Sleep Goods Body Pillow Complaints

While the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow has hundreds of 5-star reviews praising it for its softness, support, and size, a few mild complaints do pop up here and there. Some sleepers found the body tends to get a little saggy in the middle with repeated use, although most note this issue can be fixed by fluffing the pillow.

Others complain that the pillow does not come with an extra storage option for removed fill. If you decide to purchase a Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow, expect to have to store any removed foam pieces on your own.

Coop Sleep Goods Vs. TEMPUR-Pedic

The Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow is a great match for side sleepers looking for an adjustable loft pillow. But, if you need an especially supportive body pillow, check out the TEMPUR-Pedic Body pillow. This pillow is filled with the brand’s famous TEMPUR foam material for maximum pressure relief and support, especially for heavier sleepers.

Unlike the Coop Sleep Goods pillow, the TEMPUR-Pedic Body pillow is not adjustable. Rather, this pillow is taller, heavier, and firmer than the Coop Sleep Goods pillow. This makes it an especially good choice for side sleepers looking to keep their hips open and aligned. Back and stomach sleepers, however, may find the TEMPUR-Pedic Body pillow is too tall to sleep comfortably. The TEMPUR-Pedic Body pillow also comes with a removable, machine-washable cover for easy care.

Coop Sleep Goods Vs. Leacho

Sleeping comfortably can be a challenge for pregnant people. Fortunately, body pillows like the Leacho Snoogle pillow are designed specifically with the baby bump in mind, offering full body support for better, more comfortable sleep.

The Leacho Snoogle pillow calls itself the “mother of all pregnancy pillows” for a reason; its 60” long, C-shaped design wraps around the body and provides total body support. While it’s not adjustable like the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow, the Leacho Snoogle does come with a variety of fabric options for the cover, so the feel of the pillow can be customized to your personal preference.

While certainly supportive, the Leacho Snoogle is a large, heavy body pillow that will take up a lot of space in the bed. If you’re looking for a smaller, more versatile body pillow, the Coop Sleep Goods Body pillow is the better choice.
