How Does the Nectar Adjustable Bed Frame Work?

Let’s get up close and personal with the Nectar Adjustable Base! Below, we’ll explain how this adjustable bed frame works, including its construction and settings.

Design

Let’s kick things off by taking a look at how the Nectar Adjustable Base is designed!

Parts

The Nectar Adjustable Base is made from a metal frame that’s surrounded by foam and fabric. The base’s legs are adjustable. The base contains two motors, which allow the base to change position.

Remote Control

The two motors in the Nectar Adjustable Base are controlled via remote control. The remote comes pre-paired with the base, and it offers a variety of settings. More on those below!

Different Settings

The Nectar Adjustable Base comes with several settings.

  • Standard Setting. As you’d probably expect from an adjustable base, the Nectar Adjustable Base lets you raise and lower the head and foot areas to change the angle at which you’re lying or sitting on your mattress.
  • Anti-Snore. The anti-snore setting slightly raises the head of the base to a level that is supposed to be ideal for minimizing snoring.
  • Zero Gravity. As its name implies, the Zero Gravity setting elevates your body so you feel a bit like you’re floating in Zero G.
  • TV Setting. This built-in setting raises the head and feet so you’re in a lounging position ideal for watching TV from bed.
  • Memory. There are multiple memory settings on the Nectar Adjustable Base, which is more than many adjustable bases offer. You can program the base to remember up to three of your preferred settings.
  • Massage. Who doesn’t love a massage in bed? The Nectar Adjustable Base offers wave, pulse, and other massage settings for three zones of the bed. You can choose from a 10-, 20-, or 30-minute massage timer.

Other Settings

In addition to the settings outlined above, the Nectar Adjustable Base comes with one other notable feature.

  • USB port. The built-in USB port makes it easy to charge your phone, e-reader, tablet, or other device from bed.

Nectar Adjustable Base Mattress Compatibility

The Nectar is designed to work with any mattress that’s compatible with an adjustable base. So even if you don’t have a Nectar mattress, you can still use this base as long as your bed is designed to work on an adjustable base.

We tested the Nectar Adjustable Base with the Nectar Premier Copper mattress and found that it worked fairly well, although the mattress may have been just a touch too thick for the adjustable base. Still, the mattress was held in place by the wire frame at the end of the bed. And we didn’t bunch up too much as we lowered and raised the head and foot areas. Putting the Nectar Adjustable Base Together

We found that it was pretty easy to set up the Nectar Adjustable Base. It comes completely expanded in one box. Just cut the zip ties, attach the legs to the frame, and flip the base over so it’s ready to use. The remote control is already paired with the base, so you don’t have to do any tech setup.

Company Policies

Before purchasing an adjustable base, be sure to check out the company policies in question. Here’s a quick overview of the policies associated with the Nectar Adjustable Base.

Trial Period

The Nectar Adjustable Base comes with a 50-night trial period. You’ll have just under two months to test out this base in the comfort of your own home.

Warranty

The Nectar Adjustable Base comes with a 3-year warranty. Note that this is pretty short for a warranty in the mattress space.

Return Info

The Nectar brand offers free returns on all sales within the contiguous U.S. This is true both for Nectar mattresses and for the brand’s adjustable base. If you are not satisfied with the Nectar Adjustable Base, be sure to initiate a return during the 50-day trial period in order to get a full refund.

Nectar Adjustable Base Performance

We personally evaluated the Nectar Adjustable Base to assess its performance with regard to adjustability, wall-hugging, noise, durability, and more. Let’s see how it did!

Materials

The Nectar Adjustable Base is made with sturdy materials overall. Its metal frame is durable, as are the fabric and foam on the outside of the base.

Adjustability

The base offers a wide range of adjustments. The head section can move a sleeper between lying flat and a fully upright seated position. The leg section can move between lying flat to letting the thighs rest at a 45-degree angle.

Remote Control

The remote control on the Nectar Adjustable Base is intuitive and easy to use. It also features a small flashlight that you can use during the night. The remote control offers many extra settings that aren’t offered on simpler models, including three memory settings.

Wall-Hugging

Wall-hugging is not a strong suit of the Nectar Adjustable Base. The head area moves away from the wall when we incline it, making it difficult top keep the bed flush.

A close shot of the Nectar Adjustable Base moving away from the wall.

Noise

We did observe a bit of noise from the base’s motors, which is to be expected. This isn’t a particularly loud adjustable base; we’ve definitely heard louder.

Durability

With a metal frame and sturdy design, expect the Nectar Adjustable Base to last for at least 15 years. Note that its warranty is only for three years of use.

Zero-Gravity Function

The Nectar Adjustable Base has one of the better zero gravity functions that we’ve tried. Simply click a button on the remote to feel a bit like you’re floating. We found that this function relieved pressure on the lower back. If you struggle with lower back pain, also consider our Best Mattresses for Lower Back Pain.

Anti-Snore Function

With the click of a button on the remote control, the adjustable bed’s head section rises ever so slightly. This elevates a snorer’s head a bit, which could prevent snoring. This can make it easier for both the snorer and their sleeping partner to sleep soundly through the night. Consider our Best Mattresses for Snoring.

Massage

The massage function is a real highlight of the Nectar Adjustable Base. It features a wave function, a pulse function, and even a timer that lets you select from three massage durations (10 minutes, 20 minutes, or 30 minutes). This function is more advanced than the massage features on some other adjustable bases.

Additional Features

As noted above, the Nectar Adjustable Base has a built-in USB port that lets you charge your phone and other small electronics from bed.

Pros and Cons

We’re nearly at the end of this review, so let’s sum up what we’ve learned! Here are some of the main pros and cons of the Nectar Adjustable Base.

Pros

  • A good value
  • Easy to set up
  • Awesome massage features

Cons

  • Short warranty and sleep trial
  • Not good at wall-hugging
