Saatva Linen Sheets Review Overview

Saatva makes high end sleep products, like the Saatva Classic mattress, the Loom & Leaf, and many other beds. But Saatva also makes some amazing bed accessories, too. In terms of sheet offerings, Saatva sells an organic cotton sateen set, but for this review, I’m focusing on the company’s linens!

Here’s a brief overview on them:

What Do the Saatva Linen Sheets Feel Like?

One common characteristic of linen sheets is that they have a texture to them. As you run your hands over the top of these sheets, you’ll feel a slightly coarse texture. However, that’s not to say these sheets aren’t soft! In fact, Saatva sends these sheets pre-washed to help them feel as soft as they can be.

In my experience, these are some of the softest linens I’ve encountered. And the more you use and wash them, the softer they’ll become. But if you’ve never slept with linen sheets before, just know they won’t feel smooth.

Saatva Linen Sheets Materials

Saatva uses high-quality Belgian flax to make its linen sheets. This European flax has been OEKO-Tex certified, which means that the flax is grown without the use of harmful chemicals or toxins. This makes them a great eco-friendly option as well. Saatva also has a limited color palette for this set, to avoid the use of multiple dyes.

Linens don’t usually feature a thread count, and Saatva doesn’t provide one. The fitted sheet has deep pockets that can fit mattresses up to 16” tall. For reference, most beds range from 8” to 14” tall, so having deep pockets means the fitted sheet should stay secure while you sleep. Especially if you tend to change positions frequently during the night.

What to Consider Before Buying

What do you need to know before clicking check out? Let’s go over some key categories.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

In general, linens are a great option for hot sleepers. The flax stalks are spun into thick, but durable threads, and because of this, linens have a very open weave. This makes linens very breathable, and will let air flow through easily.

When I was sleeping with the Saatva linens, every time I changed positions while I slept, I felt the sheets open up and let air flow through. Flax is also a great material for hot sleepers because it is moisture-wicking, meaning you won’t feel sweaty while using these sheets. As a hot sleeper myself, I really loved using these sheets!

Care Instructions

Saatva’s linen sheets are machine-washable! Saatva recommends washing in cold water, with like colors, on a gentle cycle with a mild or organic detergent. From there, tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly.

You should avoid bleach while washing the white set. Saatva will send these sheets prewashed to help add softness. They’ll also be slightly oversized to account for any shrinkage that may occur while washing.

Allergies

Flax is a naturally hypoallergenic material. These sheets should be a great option for people with sensitive skin or allergies.

Company Policies

Let’s cover some of the fine print on the Saatva Linen Sheets!

Set Includes

For this review, I received the queen-sized set. This included:

  • A fitted sheet
  • A top/flat sheet
  • Two pillowcases
An image of the four pieces that come in the Saatva Linen Sheet set.

Saatva will sell this set in all bed sizes, twin all the way up to California king. The twin and twin XL sizes will include one pillow case, the full and queen will include two standard pillowcases, and the two king-size sets will have king-size pillowcases.

Return Policy

Saatva offers free shipping on orders. You have 45 days to test out your linens. During that time, you can make returns and exchanges, which Saatva will also provide for free and will give full refunds.

If you decide you want to keep your linens, you will get a one-year limited warranty. Linens are incredibly durable, so they’ll last much longer than that with good care!

How Do the Saatva Linen Sheets Compare To Other Sheets?

If you’ve never used linens before, let’s compare the Saatva Linen sheets to two other materials used for sheets: cotton and bamboo.

Saatva vs Brooklinen

Cotton and linen sheets feel very different, but overall, they perform similarly. Let’s compare Saatva’s linens to a popular cotton set, the Brooklinen Classic Core set.

The construction differences are obvious: Saatva’s linens are made from flax, while Brooklinen uses 100% long-staple cotton. Both will be very durable, but linens typically will last longer than cotton sets.

The pieces of the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set stacked up.

The Brooklinen set is constructed with a percale weave. Percale sheets feel very crisp and look matte on your bed. Think of a fresh pressed button up shirt, and that’s what you’ll get with the Classic Core set. Linens tend to have a coarse texture, but will get softer over time.

Brooklinen’s sheets are more affordable than Saatva, and there are various color design options, some limited edition, for Brooklinen. And overall, both will be great options for hot sleepers due to both cotton and flax’s breathability.

Who Should Get the Saatva Linen Sheets?

  • Anyone looking for eco-friendly and hypoallergenic bedding
  • Fans of textured linens

Who Should Get the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheets?

  • Fans of crisp, cotton sheets
  • Anyone looking for color variety

Saatva vs Puffy

If you prefer your sheets to feel much more like satin, however, bamboo is a good route to go. Some of my favorite bamboo sheets come from Puffy. Here’s how they differ from Saatva.

Puffy’s bamboo sheets are a set of sateen sheets, meaning they feature the sateen weave. This weave style leaves sheets feeling buttery smooth and feeling more like satin. While sateen sheets can trap heat, bamboo is breathable and naturally moisture-wicking, like flax, so both sets of sheets will be good for hot sleepers.

A man sleeps with the Puffy Bamboo sheets on his side.

Both sheets feature limited, neutral color options. Saatva offers three, while Puffy offers two. And looking at the price point, Puffy’s come in on the more affordable end. But if you’re looking for linen luxury, go with Saatva’s.

Who Should Get the Saatva Linen Sheets?

  • Fans of textured linens
  • Hot sleepers

Who Should Get the Puffy Bamboo Sheets?

  • Fans of smooth, bamboo sheets
  • Budget-minded shoppers

FAQs

Let’s answer some frequently asked questions about the Saatva Linen Sheets!

Does Saatva sell sheets?

Short answer, yes! I just covered the linen set, but Saatva sells four sets of sheets. The linens are made from flax, but the rest are made from Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cotton. This is the gold standard for organic products.

Saatva also engages in fair trade with its suppliers, so the sheets are eco-friendly and responsibly sourced.

What if I don’t like my Saatva Linen Sheets?

Don’t stress! If you’re not happy with your Saatva Linen sheets, you have 45 days to test them out. If you decide you don’t like them during that time, you can return for a full refund or an exchange.

How long will the Saatva Linen Sheets last?

The best thing about linens is that they’re incredibly durable. While they may wrinkle more than other sheets, they’re very resistant to pilling and can go three to five years before showing any sign of wear and tear.
