What Does the Brooklinen Linen Core Sheet Set Feel Like?
One common characteristic of linens is that they feel textured. This is the case for the Brooklinen Linen Core. If you run your hand over these bed sheets, you might feel a coarse, raised texture.
However, these linens still feel very soft against your skin. High-quality linens shouldn’t feel itchy or scratchy.
Brooklinen will also send these sheets to you pre-washed, which helps maximizes softness. Linens will also get much softer the more you use and wash them.
Brooklinen Linen Core Sheet Set Materials
Brooklinen constructs its sheets with 100% European flax. The flax has been OEKO-Tex certified meaning that the flax has been grown without harmful chemicals, and abides by strict criteria. Brooklinen’s flax is a blend of Belgian and French flax.
Linens typically do not feature a thread count, either, and Brooklinen does not mention a thread count for this set.
There are black, white, and black and white design and color options year round, but Brooklinen sells limited edition color options as well!

Let’s talk about some key considerations before buying this set of linen sheets.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Flax is a very breathable and moisture-wicking material. This is a winning combination if you tend to sleep hot and sweaty at night. Personally, I’m a hot sleeper, and can take several minutes to cool off when I get in bed.
I’m happy to report that the Brookline Linen Core set kept me cool all night long. Because flax threads tend to be much thicker, they’re often constructed into weaves that allow for optimal airflow. Every time I changed positions, I felt the sheets open up and let air flow through.

Care Instructions
The linen core set can be machine washed! Brooklinen recommends that you wash in a load with like colors and cold water. From there, you can tumble dry on low.
If the sheets look wrinkly out of the dryer, you also have the option to iron on low.

Flax is a naturally hypoallergenic material. These sheets will not trigger allergens and should be good for people with sensitive skin.

Brooklinen sells the Linen Core Set in sizes ranging from twin to California king. Unlike other sets I’ve reviewed, Brooklinen sells all sets with two standard sized-pillowcases.
Most twin and twin XL sets provide one pillowcase, so this is great for people looking for a smaller set. However, it means if you have a king-sized bed, you won’t have pillowcases to fit king-size pillows.
Brooklinen also sells this in a “hardcore” bundle, meaning you get everything listed above, as well as a duvet cover and two extra pillowcases.
Return Policy
All Brooklinen sheets have a 365-day window to make returns and exchanges. The return shipping is free, and Brooklinen will give a full refund if you return.
If you keep your Brooklinen sheets, they come with an additional one-year warranty.
Linens are incredibly durable, so these sheets should last you a very long time!

Right off the bat, the main difference between these sheets is the materials used to make them. The Linen Core set is made of flax, while the American Blossom sheets are made with 100% organic West Texas cotton that is grown here in the US. Brooklinen uses 100% European flax.
The American Blossom sheets are a set of percale sheets, and will feel very crisp and have a matte finish to them. If you like that crisp, cotton feel to your sheets, then this is the option for you.
Both sheet sets are cooling. This is because both flax and cotton are breathable materials, and American Blossom has a custom thread count of 180, which helps more air flow through the sheets. Both sets have fairly long trial periods, with Brooklinen offering one year, and American Blossom offering two.
Finally, if you’re looking for color options, Brooklinen will feature black, white, black and white designs, and limited edition colors. American Blossom doesn’t treat its sheets with dyes, so you only have white or natural to choose from.

Bamboo is another popular material for sheets, and it’s what Nolah uses in its bamboo sheets. Like with cotton sheets, the main difference between the Brooklinen Linen Core Sheet Set and the Nolah Bamboo is their feel.
Nolah’s sheets have that buttery soft feel to them because bamboo is much softer than cotton or flax. Both sheets are breathable and are moisture-wicking so they should be great options for hot sleepers.
