Country Living Napa Mattress Overview
As noted above, the Napa is the most high-end model in the Country Living mattress collection, which consists of three models in total. That line is dubbed the Welcome Home Collection, and it also includes the Country Living Hudson and Country Living McKinney mattresses. The mattresses are made in the USA and are designed to evoke the relaxation and ambiance of true country living.
The Napa features a complex construction that layers foams (including memory foam) and microcoils over individually-wrapped coils. The mattress is zoned, which means it’s firmer toward the center (for extra support) and softer toward the head and foot (for added pressure relief). The mattress comes in three firmnesses, so you can take your pick depending on your sleep position(s) and preferences. We focused on the Medium model in this review.

Country Living Napa Mattress Video Review
Take the Country Living Napa mattress for a virtual test spin with our in-depth video review! Our reviewer, Marten, will reveal each layer of this bed’s construction and share what it felt like to sleep in every position on this mattress.
Country Living Napa Mattress Firmness And Feel
To kick off the in-depth portion of this review, let’s take a look at the Country Living Napa mattress’s firmness and feel. These factors will tell you a lot about whether this bed is a good fit for your sleep position(s) and other preferences.
How Firm Is The Country Living Napa?
We ranked the Medium model of the Country Living Napa mattress around 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for average firmness is 6.5/10, so this suggests the Napa is a touch softer-than-average. It has multiple plush layers on top, including a memory foam layer, which together help create the bed’s soft feel.
Of course, firmness is slightly subjective. Your body weight and personal preferences might influence your perception of the bed’s firmness. For instance, because of the zoned construction, the Napa might feel firmer or softer depending on your sleeping position.
Sleeping On The Country Living Napa
The Napa mattress felt like a great match for back sleeping. While the soft layers and pillow top are pressure relieving, we also felt the zoned construction supporting our lumbar area, and our spine felt aligned.
We enjoyed great pressure relief while side sleeping on the Napa. The plush comfort layers helped relieve pressure around the shoulder and hip, which are common pressure points for side sleepers.
In our experience, the Napa is too soft for stomach sleeping. Our hips bowed into the mattress, which pulled the spine out of alignment.
What Does The Country Living Napa Feel Like?
Country Living’s Napa mattress has a plush, responsive hybrid feel. It has a quilted and tufted over, which creates a bit of a pillow top feel on the top of the mattress. This is balanced out by the coil system, which gives the mattress bounce and responsiveness.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
Average-weight back sleepers should enjoy a balance of comfort and spinal support on the Napa. Average-weight side sleepers should also love this mattress thanks to its pressure relieving feel. The mattress is too soft for average-weight stomach sleepers, who might want to check out the Firm model or another bed for stomach sleeping.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
Heavyweight back sleepers who weigh less than 300 pounds should find the Napa to be a good fit, while folks who weigh more than that might need a mattress made for heavy people. Similarly, heavyweight side sleepers who weigh less than 300 pounds should enjoy plenty of pressure relief, while folks who weigh more than 300 pounds might need a more supportive mattress. The Medium model won’t be supportive enough for heavyweight stomach sleepers, who might feel better on the Firm model.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
Lightweight back sleepers should enjoy a balance of comfort and support on the Napa. Lightweight side sleepers should also find this mattress to be a great fit thanks to its soft feel and corresponding pressure relief. Lightweight stomach sleepers might get enough spinal support on this bed, but it’s not guaranteed.
Country Living Napa Mattress Construction
Now that you know what it feels like to sleep on top of the Country Living mattress, let’s take a look at what’s inside of it! We’ll detail each layer of this bed’s complex construction and share how various materials influence its feel and performance.
Cover
The Napa features a cooling cover that’s tufted and quilted with contouring foam. This creates a pressure relieving feel right off the bat.
Comfort Layers
The primary comfort layer on the Napa is made from 2” of Titan Hyperflex foam, which adds some bounce to the top of the mattress. Beneath that, there’s a 1” micro-coil unit layer that is zoned to create targeted support. Next up, there’s a 1” layer of memory foam that’s infused with copper to help with cooling. Finally, a 1” layer of Firm HD Polyfoam helps transition sleepers from the softer comfort layers to the firmer support layers underneath.
Support Layers
The Napa’s main comfort layer is made from 8” of individually-wrapped coils that are zoned to provide extra spinal support and added softness for side sleeping. Underneath the coils, a thin layer of base support foam provides structure and support for the mattress overall.
Mattress Height
The Napa stands higher than a lot of mattresses at 16” tall.

Country Living Napa Mattress Performance
We put the Napa mattress through a barrage of tests with regard to temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support, and more. Let’s see how it did!
Sleeping Hot Or Cold
The Napa mattress has several features that should help it sleep cool, including its cooling cover, the copper infusion in the memory foam, and the innerspring layer, which allows for plenty of airflow throughout the center of the bed. You shouldn’t sleep hot on this mattress.
Motion Transfer
Because the Napa mattress is bouncy and responsive, it doesn’t perform particularly well when it comes to motion transfer. It’s possible that movement could travel across the surface of the mattress and disturb a sleep partner. If you want a great mattress for couples, a full memory foam mattress might be a better option.
Edge Support
Overall, we felt pretty secure while sitting and lying down near the edges of the Napa mattress. It’s a tall mattress with two sets of coils, which creates a sturdy feel. We didn’t feel like we were going to roll off the bed when we laid near the edge.
Durability
The Napa mattress is a deluxe, tall mattress that’s made with high-quality materials in the form of high-density foam and high-grade coils. Translation? It should be very durable. With proper care, expect this mattress to last for at least 10 years.
Off-Gassing
The mattress arrived completely expanded, so it didn’t need time to inflate and off-gas. We didn’t observe any notable smells from this bed.
Noise
At the time of our review, we didn’t notice any noise on the Napa. Because it contains coils, it’s possible they could start to squeak a bit over time.
Sex
This is a bouncy mattress, so it should provide a responsive surface for sexual partners. Partners shouldn’t feel stuck in this bed, and it should be easy to move around and change positions. It could be a good mattress for sex.

How Does The Country Living Napa Compare To Other Mattresses?
Curious to know how the Napa stacks up against its competitors? We pitted this bed against two of the most popular mattresses around: the Casper Original and the Purple. Let’s see how they compare!
Country Living Napa Vs. Casper
In terms of construction and materials, the Napa and Casper Original are quite different. The Napa has a complex hybrid construction with many layers, while the Casper is all-foam and features just four layers. (The Casper does come in a hybrid version as well.) One construction element that these beds have in common? They both offer a zoned construction.
Firmness depends in part on the weight of the sleeper in question, but in our experience, the Casper is firmer than the Napa. We ranked the Napa around a 6/10 on the firmness scale (softer-than-average), while we ranked the Casper around 7/10 (a bit firmer-than-average).
These beds are also different when it comes to feel. The Napa has a responsive hybrid feel, while the Casper has a balanced foam feel. Both beds are responsive, but the Napa gets some extra bounce from its coils.
Finally, these beds differ in terms of price. The Casper costs less than the Napa, which makes sense considering the Napa is meant to be a luxury mattress.
Who Should Choose Napa?
- Side sleepers
- Folks who want a more advanced and high-end mattress
Who Should Choose Casper?
- People who are looking to save money
- Folks who want a mattress that’s a bit firmer
Learn more about the Casper Original in our Casper mattress review.
Country Living Napa Vs. Purple
The Napa and the Purple have very different constructions. The Napa is a hybrid mattress with a plush top and multiple sets of coils, while the Purple is constructed with a proprietary (and unique-feeling) gel Purple Grid.
In spite of their construction differences, these beds aren’t too far off when it comes to firmness. We ranked the Napa around 6/10 (or slightly softer-than-average), and we ranked the Purple around 6.5 (right around average firmness).
Because of their different constructions, these beds also vary in feel. The Napa has a responsive hybrid feel, while the Purple has a unique feel that’s simultaneously squishy yet firm.
These beds also differ when it comes to price. The Purple costs less than the Napa, which is billed as a higher-end mattress.
Who Should Choose the Napa?
- People who want a more substantial mattress
- Side sleepers
Who Should Choose the Purple?
- People who want to save money
- Hot sleepers who need a temperature-neutral mattress
- Stomach sleepers
