Simmons Hybrid Mattress Firmness And Feel
When we review a mattress, we always take a look at the firmness and feel first. This will give you an initial idea of whether the Simmons Hybrid mattress should be right for you.
How Firm Is The Simmons Hybrid?
The Firm model of the Simmons Hybrid is close to a 7.5/10, firmer-than-average. The mattress has a very thin comfort layer, so you are mostly going to feel the firm support of the pocketed coils. The Plush and Medium models will undoubtedly feel softer than the Firm model.
Sleeping On The Simmons Hybrid
Back sleeping on the Simmons Hybrid, we get a decent balance of comfort and support. The quilted cover offers a bit of contouring while the pocketed coils hold up our weight.
When we are side sleeping, that layer of foam in the cover is not giving us quite enough pressure relief. We would suggest taking a look at the Medium or Plush model if you are a side sleeper.
Stomach sleeping, the Simmons Hybrid is providing us some with some good overall support. However, as we will get into below, heavier people might have the same experience.
What Does The Simmons Hybrid Feel Like?
While the Simmons Firm Hybrid is, well, a hybrid mattress, it really has more of an innerspring mattress feel. Lying on the mattress, you will mostly feel the bounce and response of the individually-wrapped coils. The Medium and Plush models have more of a slow-moving feel right on top.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs
If you weigh under 230lbs, you should get the right amount of comfort and support on the Simmons Hybrid. Side sleepers in this weight range will probably want to look at one of the softer models. Stomach sleeping, the majority of people between 130lbs and 230lbs should get the support that they need.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs
Back sleepers who are close to 230lbs should get enough support from the Simmons Hybrid mattress. However, if you are over 275lbs, you will want to get a mattress for heavy people. Side sleeping, heavyweight people won’t feel the best pressure relief on this mattress, and they will want something with a thicker comfort layer. If you are a heavyweight stomach sleeper, you will also need to find a more supportive mattress.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs
Lightweight people who sleep on their back and stomach should get the right amount of support. However, if they sleep on their side, they still might want to look at the Plush or Medium Simmons Hybrid models.

Simmons Hybrid Mattress Performance
We put the Simmons Hybrid mattress to the test with regard to cooling, motion transfer, and edge support. Let’s see how it did!
Sleeping Hot Or Cold
Given that it is a hybrid mattress, the Simmons Hybrid should allow for a good amount of airflow. The coils will help keep the mattress breathing and stop it from trapping too much heat. While the Simmons Firm Hybrid does not have any advanced cooling features, the Medium and Plush models do boast gel infusions and a cooling cover.
Motion Transfer
The Simmons Firm Hybrid is definitely a bouncier mattress, so it does not absorb particularly well. However, if you look at the Medium or Plush models, the extra layers of memory foam should help cut down on this motion transfer. Those who want a mattress for couples should look at the Medium or Plush models.
Edge Support
The Simmons Firm Hybrid is a thinner mattress and does not provide the best edge support. When we sit near the edge, the mattress collapses quite a bit. Also, when we lie down, we feel like we might roll off the mattress.
Durability
The Simmons Firm Hybrid does not appear to the most durable mattress. It has a simple, straightforward design and is meant to be more of a value mattress. It depends on your weight how often you use the mattress, but it should last for between five and seven years. The Medium and Plush models could last a bit longer with their extra layers of memory foam.
Off-gassing
The Simmons Hybrid is a bed in a box mattress, so we were not surprised that it let off a chemical smell when we first unboxed it. This is normal for a mattress like this, and it did go away after 48 hours.
Noise
While it is a hybrid mattress, the Simmons Hybrid does not make too much noise when we roll around. However, the coils could begin to squeak after you use the mattress for a few years.
Sex
The Simmons Hybrid should be a good mattress for sex because it is more responsive. It should make it easy for you and your partner to move around on the mattress.

How Does The Simmons Hybrid Compare To Other Mattresses?
It’s always a good idea to do some comparison shopping when looking for a mattress. Let’s see how the Simmons Hybrid compares to the Simmons Memory Foam model.
Simmons Hybrid vs. Simmons Foam
The Simmons Hybrid and Simmons Foam mattresses are similar in that they both come in multiple firmness options. Obviously, they both come from Simmons, and they are more affordable mattresses.
That being said, they do have their differences. The main difference can be found in their support layers. The Simmons Hybrid features coils while the Simmons Foam features base foam. This makes the Hybrid mattress more breathable than the Foam mattress, and it is also more supportive.
The addition of coils does make the Simmons Hybrid cost a bit more, however.
Who Should Get The Simmons Hybrid Mattress?

- Fans of bouncier mattresses
Who Should Get The Simmons Foam Mattress?
- Those who want to spend less on their mattress
