Siena is a bedding company with a limited collection of well-priced mattresses. The Siena Premier Hybrid is the most premium model in the lineup, yet it stays true to the brand’s budget-minded ethos. After testing hundreds of mattresses, I reviewed the Premier Hybrid to see whether you really can have it all — a great mattress at a great price.

I put this bed through a number of tests to assess everything from comfort to support to cooling. You’ll find my unbiased Siena Premier Hybrid mattress review below. Keep reading to learn whether this mattress is your ticket to a great night’s sleep.

I Recommend The Siena Premier Hybrid For…

  • Back sleepers. Individually-wrapped springs and a medium-firm feel make the Premier Hybrid supportive and comfortable for those who routinely snooze on their backs.
  • Budget shoppers. As a budget-friendly hybrid that doesn’t skimp on the quality of its materials, this mattress is a great match for shoppers watching their pennies.
  • Fans of bouncy mattresses. Seven inches of individually-wrapped wire coils give the Premier Hybrid a bouncy feel that works especially well for combination sleepers.

I Don’t Recommend The Siena Premier Hybrid For…

  • Fans of a classic memory foam feel. While the mattress has a layer of gel-infused foam, it lacks the signature “hugged” sensation that many people enjoy.
  • Side sleepers. The medium-firm Premier Hybrid may not be the best match for dedicated side sleepers, who likely need something a little softer to cradle the hips and shoulders.
  • Those in search of a luxury mattress. While this hybrid has a lot going for it, it may not appeal to those in search of a more substantial, higher-end mattress.

Siena Premier Hybrid Performance in Our Tests

Support

Support – 3.5

Sufficient support is the most important function of a mattress. Support refers to how effectively a mattress’s materials and construction help you maintain a neutral spine. I test mattress support by assessing it on my back, side, and stomach to see whether my spine shifts or stays comfortably aligned.

As a hybrid, this mattress features a coil layer, which usually means it’s more supportive than an all-foam bed. But the 7” springs are an inch shorter than those found in many other hybrid mattresses. I found the Premier Hybrid lacks the truly supportive feel that I’ve experienced on other beds.

This is a budget mattress, which may explain the slightly shorter springs. Plus, as a heavier guy, it may simply lack sufficient support for my needs. Lighter sleepers could fare better.

Edge Support

Edge Support – 4

For couples, or anyone who finds it challenging to get in and out of bed, edge support is an important feature. Edge support describes how stable a mattress feels around its perimeter. If you like to sit on the edge of the bed to tie your shoes, good edge support is important.

I test edge support by sitting on the side and lying along the edge. When I sat on the side of the bed, I measured a 3.5” sag. But again, as a bigger guy, I put more strain on a mattress, especially when I sit on the edge. Lying down, I didn’t feel that I was at risk of rolling right off the bed. That’s probably because body weight is distributed differently when you lie down.

20241108 135044

Cooling

Cooling – 3.5

The Siena Premier Hybrid isn’t marketed as a cooling mattress, but it didn’t do badly in this category. Hybrid mattresses promote airflow better than their all-foam counterparts, and this bed features gel-infused foam that helps minimize heat retention. I used a temperature gun to measure the mattress before and after lying on it for five minutes. It warmed from 69.6 degrees to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s not a terrible reading, especially given the fact that I didn’t overheat during the sleep test on this mattress.

While I think it’s reasonably cool, extremely hot sleepers will likely be better served by a mattress with active cooling technology. Check out my list of the best cooling mattresses for some better options.

20241108 104051

Motion Transfer

Motion Transfer – 3.5

Motion transfer can be another important feature for couples. If you share the bed with a restless sleeper and your mattress transfers motion, you’ll very likely be jostled awake when your bed partner moves around. Couples, take note — the Siena Premier is definitely a bouncier mattress that doesn’t absorb motion particularly well. I conducted two separate tests, and in both cases, it didn’t fare well.

During the first test, I placed a glass of water on the bed and then pressed into the mattress to simulate changing positions. There was noticeable disturbance in the water. During the second test, I rested on the mattress while a coworker rolled around on the other side and got in and out of bed. All of that activity was channeled to me through the bed, which could be an issue if you’re a light sleeper with a bed partner.

20241108 135016

Response

Response – 4.5

Responsiveness is on the flip side of motion transfer, and the Siena Premier scored very well in this category. The same bounciness that docked its score for motion transfer makes it very easy to move around. If you prefer ease of movement on a bed, with the sensation that you’re sleeping “on top of it” and not “in it,” this is a good option.

Durability

Durability – 3.5

We haven’t found a crystal ball yet, so the durability category is simply an educated guess. Hybrid mattresses are generally more durable than all-foam beds, thanks to their coil layer. But as a budget mattress, it’s reasonable to assume that the Siena Premier Hybrid won’t last as long as a higher-end model made with premium materials. I expect it to last between five and seven years.

Siena Premier Hybrid Policy Scores

Trial Period

Trial Period – 5

Siena offers a 180-night trial window on its mattresses. While it’s not as generous as the 365-night trials offered by some competitors, it’s still more than enough time to sleep on the Premier Hybrid and decide if it meets your needs.

Like other brands, Siena typically asks that you sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights to give your body time to fully adjust. If it’s not working out after that, you can call a Siena sleep specialist for a full refund. They’ll coordinate with a partner organization for the mattress to be picked up and donated to a local charity. Once Siena has confirmation that your mattress has been collected, they’ll issue your refund in full.

Warranty

Warranty – 4

The Siena Premier Hybrid has a 10-year warranty, which is comparable to many mattresses on the market. Warranties don’t cover normal wear and tear. Instead, they protect against faults and defects, such as excessive sinking or a mattress that doesn’t properly expand to its full height.

In the event of a manufacturer defect, Siena says it will arrange for the collection of your mattress and either repair or replace it during the 10-year warranty period.

Two-Hour Nap Test

The two-hour nap test is my favorite — and not just because I have a legitimate reason to sleep on the job. It gives me a chance to consider whether I’m comfortable enough to easily drift off or tossing and turning to find a good position. When I wake up, assessing how I feel offers a lot of insight into the mattress.

I started my nap on my back. I’ve already mentioned that this is a good mattress for back sleepers, and that bears out. I didn’t wake up with any pain issues and I slept quite cool. Again, this isn’t an actively cooling mattress with a cool-to-the-touch cover, but paired with cooling sheets, it does just fine for the average sleeper.

Siena Premier Hybrid – Other Factors To Consider

In addition to the categories above, I assess mattresses in a few other ways. Here’s how the Siena Premier Hybrid measured up.

Off-gassing

Off-gassing, or the emission of a chemical odor, isn’t unusual with bed-in-a-box mattresses. The Siena Premier was no exception. This bed needed a few days to completely expand and air out. After that, there was no chemical smell.

Noise

I didn’t hear any noise during my testing because I had a brand new mattress. But because it’s made with springs, there’s a chance that this bed could start squeaking over time.

Sex

A good mattress for sex makes it easy to move around, and that’s a standout feature of the Siena Premier Hybrid. Given the bouncy, responsive nature of this bed, sexual partners won’t find themselves sinking into the mattress and feeling stuck.

Mattress Height

The Siena Premier Hybrid is 10” tall. Most mattresses are between 10” and 12” tall, with higher-end models ranging up to 16” or even taller. The Siena is comparable for models in its price range.

Price

A queen-size Siena Premier Hybrid costs $499.00. The largest available size, a California king, is just under $599.00. That’s significantly lower than many hybrid mattresses on the market.

Sleeping Position and Weight

The Siena Premier Hybrid was a great fit for back sleeping, offering a nice balance of comfort and support. While much heavier sleepers may find they need more support than this mattress offers, it should be a good fit for most average-weight and lightweight back sleepers.

On my side, the Premier Hybrid felt just okay. I noticed some pressure around my hips and shoulders and I think the firmer feel of this mattress could create the same issue even for light and average-weight side sleepers.

20241108 134947

Stomach sleepers who weigh less than 230 lbs should feel comfortable on this mattress. It should do a great job of keeping the hips properly lifted to maintain a neutral spine. Heavier stomach sleepers, like myself, could benefit from a firmer mattress.

Heavyweight Tester – 6’7”, 270 lbs

“As a larger person, the coils did a decent job of holding up my body. However, I’m not sure how this mattress would fare after a few years. I put a lot of strain on my mattresses, and this simpler hybrid might not be up to the challenge.” – Marten

Average-Weight Tester – 5’3”, 150 lbs

“I felt pretty good on my back, but I developed a lot of pressure on my shoulders and hips when I rested on my side. If you’re a stomach sleeper who is in my weight range, this bed should be a good pick.” – Elisa

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lbs

People who weigh less than 130 lbs won’t compress this mattress very much, so it should be a good match for back and stomach sleeping. In these positions, lightweight people should feel ample lumbar support. Lightweight side sleepers, on the other hand, might think this mattress is too firm.

Siena Premier Hybrid Construction

Now that we’ve established how the mattress performs, let’s take a look at the materials and construction of the Siena Premier Hybrid.

How The Siena Premier Hybrid Compares

Choosing a new mattress is largely a matter of comparing and contrasting models to find the one that meets your needs and budget. Here’s how the Siena Premier Hybrid compares to its sister mattresses and competitors.

Siena Premier Hybrid vs. Siena Essential

The Siena Essential is a simple, all-foam option with no coils. The four-layer mattress is the same height as the Premier Hybrid, but it has a firmer feel. The Siena Premier Hybrid is closer to a medium-firm.

The coils make the Premier Hybrid more supportive and boost breathability, but it does add to the price tag. A queen-size Essential is $299.00, so if budget is a primary concern, that’s the cheaper option. If you’re a hot sleeper or on the heavier side, the Premier Hybrid is the better choice.

Take a look at my Siena Essential mattress review to learn more.

Siena Premier Hybrid vs. Siena Memory Foam

The Siena Essential is the brand’s base model. It’s softer, with more of a memory foam feel, so it works well for side sleepers and those who enjoy sinking into their mattress.

Since it lacks coils, the Siena Memory Foam isn’t as breathable as the Premier Hybrid, which is the better option if you sleep hot or need more support. On the other hand, the Siena Memory Foam is slightly more affordable.

Take a look at my Siena mattress review to learn more.

Siena Premier Hybrid vs. DreamCloud

The DreamCloud is a popular hybrid mattress. It’s more substantial than the Siena Premier Hybrid, with a firmer feel and a cashmere-blend pillow top that adds a luxurious touch. Because it’s firmer, it’s a great pick for stomach sleepers.

dreamcloud og updated

The DreamCloud is 12” to the Siena’s 10”, and it has an eight-layer construction. But the extra materials make it a more expensive mattress. A queen-size DreamCloud mattress costs $1332.00 before discounts. I think it’s the better choice for fans of firmer mattresses and dedicated stomach sleepers. If you’re on a tighter budget and change positions at night, the Siena Premier Hybrid is probably the better fit.
